Overall Satisfaction with Kronos Workforce Ready

I have rated the support as high as possible considering some of the issues encountered with getting the assistance needed to complete my service requests. The majority of the time, it is as simple as the case manager accessing my system and walking me through what I need to do but there have been a few times where the support manager was unable to figure out how to make it work. In those cases, they typically seek out a subject matter expert for additional direction and the case is successfully resolved. Presently, there a 2 unresolved open cases in my queue that were never resolved and no work-around provided.
Workforce ready is used throughout the organization as the timekeeping system as well as the payroll processing system. It addresses the time sheet calculation and reporting needed to generate pay statements for all employees. It also provides an electronic time off request approval that is useful in tracking paid time off available balances for employees.
  • The workflow system for time off approval works really well with reminders sent to the approvers until the time is approved. This prevents employees who have requested the time off from being short of paid time when the payroll is process.
  • The time off accrual calculations are useful for employees to see in real time the quantity of hours or days available for requesting time off.
  • The reporting available in Kronos is especially helpful for the accounting department. It is very easily modified to accommodate multiple filters and additional information upon request. It is also very user friendly and does not require technical assistance for customizations to the data extracted.
  • Workforce Ready could be improved in the notifications where the intent is to notify the recipient when a task that is scheduled to be completed is still undone. When creating a rule for a follow up notification, the system does not check to see if the task was already performed before sending out the notification.
  • Another area when WFR could be improved is in the payroll processing of time sheets. The system does not issue a warning indicating there are timesheets that are incomplete until the time is synced to process the pay statements. It would be more helpful if the warning was issued in the managing time module before transferring the time to the payroll processing module.
  • The reporting is great but there have been several times when a report did not function as it should. After contacting technical support for assistance, there have been a number of times when the case manager was unable to assist and the item remained open. Technical support should be able to explain why the report is not functioning and provide a solution or work around and that is not always the case.
  • Kronos Workforce Ready has helped tremendously with data exporting for recording into the general ledger. The data files are easily manipulated to accommodate changes required to accurately report expenses by department. There are several reports available to validate the expenses and insure the accuracy of the data before it is posted.
  • The reporting is used by the cost accounting group to assist the department heads with managing the labor required to complete the manufacturing process and assess the profitability of certain products based on labor costs. It is also helpful with projecting labor costs and accurately quoting prices for new products.
In comparison to the previous payroll system, Kronos is 150% better in user friendliness, time tracking, data exporting and updates for changes as implemented. There are webinars scheduled by Kronos to make the users aware of changes and improvements to the system and technical support to assist with issues as they arise. The old system had technical support but they made the changes that were needed and took time to make those changes. By contrast, Kronos technical support walks us through the process to make the changes and empowers us to make the changes adhoc.

The most important factor was the usability of the system since the prior system did not provide what we required. The company has grown exponentially since the former system was implemented and needed a system that would support that growth as well as future needs as we expand the products offered and manpower required to manufacture those products.
Kronos Workforce Ready is perfectly suited for an organization such as ours with many hourly employees who punch the time clock for timesheet reporting and tracking available time off. It is a great tool for time tracking and management with reports available to manage labor costs by departments. Kronos Workforce Ready is not suited as well for the salaried employees who do not punch a time clock but request time off electronically. The system records the time off but also auto-populates the regular work schedule with hours and if the manager does not notice the time can easily result in over payments.
