Overall Satisfaction with Linode

We use Linode to host databases and front-ends separate from other resources to increase security and increase uptime and reliability.

  • More customizable options for CPU/RAM/storage
  • Transparency on which physical hardware your machine will be installed on
  • Lower cost of on-premises hardware
  • Cheaper to remote host with Linode than pay for the power, cooling, and floorspace
  • Easier to manage remotely
Linode has always responded to support tickets in a timely manner and offered plenty of advanced notice and help when it comes to hardware migrations or upgrades to existing Linodes.
Linode originally appealed to me as a hobbyist living in a small apartment where it was not feasible to set up and maintain my own server for a few websites and a TeamSpeak server. It then grew to host some game servers for me since paying for Linode was cheaper than upgrading my Internet plan and buying dedicated hardware. Now Linode is an essential part of providing remote applications to our colleagues and clients.
Infrastructure uptime isn't a high priority for what we put on Linode. We typically use our own redundant servers for highly critical applications and network resources.
Linode has worked great for all my needs from hobby usage to professional. I've used Linode to host small things like small PHP websites and TeamSpeak3 servers to small game servers up to inventory tracking services for my company. I haven't really run in to a spot where Linode doesn't work in my eight years of using it. The support is great and the uptime and reliability make up for the slight premium over other VPS providers.
