Overall Satisfaction with Linode
Whole organization. It runs our SaaS product.
- Simple.
- Competitive pricing.
- Available in Singapore.
- Available in other Southeast Asia countries (we host government data, they want it onshore).
- Better management of downtime - some of our systems are not HA, so maintenance windows kill our customer experience.
- We lose money paying for Linode, but it's okay if it's covered from other parts of the business (e.g. sell hardware that connects to the cloud).
- Positive impact on business as it has limited our spending. Is negative on productivity when we are up hand manipulating the resource.
- Positive on growth of engineers - not everything is as click and forget it as AWS, but this means we can control our destiny.
After evaluation, Linode is still cheaper. We want it cheap and predictable (until we raise Series A).
TCO is manageable at the low end. High end we can't afford the cost, so we still route it into our office's on-premise servers. Some day we will be able to afford higher value offerings like GPU or high RAM.
We're in Aviation. Our SLA to the customer is 6 nines (99.9999% up time). You go figure.
