Overall Satisfaction with Linode

We use Linode for two purposes: hosting internal tools for every team and department in the company and even more important the hosting of our products (SaaS software solution).

We mainly use virtual machines that we manage on our own and build our own cluster running our software stack with it.

We have experienced a better performance on the virtual machines and more important we have seen that Linode has a great focus on their core products and services instead of providing every new feature and technology out there. Also the support way always quick and responsive to help out with problems.
Almost all of our support cases have been resolved quickly and with lots of information what happened in our specific case. What also impressed is is proactive tickets their system creates when they see something going on on their site which could impact your business. Other hosting companies sometimes try to hide cases that might impact you.
Compared to our previous hosting provider we could
  • Drastically improve the cost of ownership of our hosting solution.
  • Reduce the time and money spent on maintenance.
  • Quickly deploy new technologies and services to our customers.
Since we sell a SaaS solution, uptime is a key part when deciding for a hosting company. Although we use fail tolerant services with a high availability setup, having a provider with a good uptime record is key in having good sleep at night. High Uptime in combination with SLAs sold to our customers is an important part in our business.
If you search for a hosting provider for your own virtual machines where performance and reliability is important, Linode is the way to go. Also if you develop your own software and sell it, it's a great way to deliver it to your customers in a cheaper and better way then using a managed service. Here you have control over your own software stack.
