Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

We have just started with Marketing automation. We will primarily be using it for detailed web analytics, emails, nurture campaigns, and revenue reporting. The business problem we're addressing with Marketo is that we have a very lean marketing team and would like to automate processes to reduce the burden on Marketing.
  • Full suite of options.
  • Reporting on revenue earned through marketing.
  • Reducing the burden on Marketing once automation and content is in place.
  • Fairly intuitive but does take time to learn.
  • Initial set up with mapping your CRM fields takes a lot of time and thought.

For lead management, the goal we are trying to achieve is to have virtually the entire process automated. What we are working on building out is having leads fill out a form on our website and be put in a nurture campaign where they are sent the appropriate and relevant content. Eventually, salespeople would be notified of these leads so they can follow up accordingly.
Marketo is miles ahead of Pardot. There is much more you can do right down to the small things like making sure people get emails in their local time zone. It's easier to segment prospects as well. With Pardot being just as much of a challenge to implement and learn as well as have a similar price point, it wouldn't make sense to invest in Pardot.
Marketo is well suited for an organization with a lean Marketing Team that is looking to maximize its reach via automation. For example, once you build out a nurture campaign for leads that fill out your website's contact form, you can keep those leads that campaign or have them automatically move to different lists/notify different salespeople, etc. via your automation rules. For smaller organizations, it's worth considering alternatives simply because of price.
