Great for maintainable production pipelines

We use Matillion for all our batch ELT/ETL/rETL processes and the orchestration and scheduling of those processes. It makes it easier to create clear and maintainable pipelines with DAGs and notes in the DAGs for documentation. It makes getting setup with extraction of new sources much easier. We use it for database and API sources. The API Profiles make setting up new sources easier. We also used the transformation components for more complicated Snowflake transformations such as flattening json. Matillion jobs parameterization and shared jobs make it easier to reuse code for multiple pipelines. Its great to be able to use both SQL and Python to transform data.

It took me about two weeks of exploring pipelines that had already been built before I was comfortable to start writing my own. My first few pipelines used very few of the matillion transformation components and a matillion low code style. Instead I did a lot of raw SQL and python components to achieve my transformations.
