Microsoft Office 365 (Cloud)

Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365)

Microsoft 365 is being used across all the organization for several aspects: Emails, Teams for collaboration, OneDrive for personal files and SharePoint for the intranet and document management. It allows to broadcast information to a large audience (SharePoint communication sites), collaborate within departments, committees and common projects (using Teams), store files (SP and OneDrive) and support specific business processes using solutions built on SharePoint.
  • Integration.
  • It dominates the industry in office solutions.
  • Large spectrum of solutions and toolboxes to build your own.
  • Affordable to any company size.
  • Compared to niche products, some 365 apps don't have as many features.
  • Can be confusing to adopt the full suite without professional help.
  • Licensing is extremely difficult to understand when you have specific needs.
  • Integration of everything office/information work related.
  • Broad suite of applications that covers a lot of ground.
  • Mobile and Remote friendly - kept us working during the pandemic.
  • Broked silos using Teams for transversal use.
  • Allowed our employees to continue to work during the pandemic.
  • Increased productivity by supporting specific business processes.
  • Reduced the inefficient emails as the default tool to support peripherical processes.
  • Google Workspace (formerly G Suite)
365 is a much deeper and broader platform than G-Suite. The Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint...) has more features and is the de facto standard so it is more adoptable by our users. G-Suite has no equivalent to Teams and SharePoint. Document Management is basic at most. Up to recently, G-Suite could not edit native Office files and would convert them all the time to native Google files which is annoying. Even today, the editor can't compare to Office when editing Office files.
I can only see G-Suite being used in a small and light organizations or very geeky ones, complemented by other products such as Slack.

Yes

No

Would you buy Microsoft 365 again?

Yes

365 is the workhouse for any office need: files, communications, collaboration, information and business process support.
  • If you need an intranet, use SharePoint Online within 365 to quickly build a beautiful site without much technical knowledge.
  • If you need to collaborate on department, projects, committees and even on processes, use Teams within 365. It also gives you access to the best collaboration tools such as Planner to manage tasks and OneNote to have a common notebook.
  • If you need to gather a community, use Yammer (or Teams) within 365.
  • If you need to support a specific business process (like contract management or HR employee files), build a custom SharePoint site with its broad spectrum toolbox (from the simplest to the most complex).
  • If you need to store personal documents, use OneDrive.
