Overall Satisfaction with Monetate
As a Startup, we use Monetate in several key ways:
- To test many of our hypotheses about how users shop for our products with the goal of increasing customer adoption
- To test retention campaigns for returning customers based on our data-driven insights
- To test new 3rd party functionalities and make site edits without having to rely on our technical team

- Monetate has excellent account service teams. Many of our most significant gains with the platform were the result of our service team's suggestions
- The self-service campaign builder tool takes a bit of time to get used to, but quickly becomes intuitive and is very powerful and precise
- Monetate has many built-in features, like lightbox modals, that will get you up and testing quickly
- There are some campaigns that you'll want to test that will probably require some customization. They have begun to charge for some of these customizations, which is understandable. On the plus side, these customizations are usually developed quickly.
- ROI positive for the year within the first two months of usage
- Increased new customer conversion rates
- Decreased cost per acquisition from marketing partners
We used Optimizely as a self-service tool. Our Monetate engagement is full-service, so it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. I do prefer Monetate's action builder to the Optimizely tool.
