Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have started using the Oracle Autonomous database as a data store for Log analytics. It does ease the need for maintenance and is self-managing when it comes to performance advisory reports. But I will say it's still under evaluation in comparison to Amazon RDS.

Pros and Cons

We are using automated index management for one of our asset repositories.
We have had a big relief from the need for patching this database.
We did see a performance improvement when we moved the DB to Oracle ADB.

Return on Investment

It's debatable on the footprint of the data, but yes, there is less need of legacy DBA.

Alternatives Considered

Amazon RDS on VMware and Amazon RDS Performance Insights

Amazon did take the lead on this with multiple flavours of DB, but Oracle Engineering is unbeatable.
