Overall Satisfaction with Paychex Flex

We use Paychex Flex to process our employee payroll as well as [payments for] our 1099 independent contractors. They provide semi-monthly payroll processing including tax filings. They also prepare and file our quarter- and year-end tax reports.

Pros

  • Paychex Flex is simple to use.
  • Paychex Flex does not make GUI updates often, so everything is in the same place whenever you need it.

Cons

  • The Live Reports are handy, but not intuitive to set up.
  • The payroll import file is too complicated to set up and use.
  • Paychex Flex is very affordable, which is important to us as a small company.
Payroll entry is easier on Paychex Flex. It is easier to see each employee's earnings and deductions to review before submitting. TriNet has better customizable reporting with their Workforce Analytics tool. TriNet has a lot more offerings and better customer service, but it comes at a hefty price.
I have a dedicated service representative that is not helpful. She is the main reason why I would consider moving my business away from their platform.

Paychex Flex is easy to use for payroll entry. Other features such as HR management are more complicated, so I choose not to use them.
Paychex Flex is well suited for a small company with a standard, recurring payroll. A large company may have trouble making multiple edits for every payroll, as a lot of it must be hand-keyed.
