Overall Satisfaction with Procore

Across the organization. We use the project management tools such as drawings, submittals, specs photos. These are viewed by our field and subcontractor/suppliers that we invite. We use it on the estimating side to invite companies to bid on a project. We also use the financials for purchase orders, subcontract agreements, budget and sometimes for billing depending on the project.

  • The budget should offer a space for notes for each line item. When we use excel it is common to add a note to a cell to remind you of what was all involved in that particular line item.
  • If the financial section is based on excel it would be nice to be able to add a formula to the cell in the event that you are adding materials or equipment together.
Building Blok, box and Master Library are (3) that I have used. Master Library is very dated. Building Blok is fine and easy to use but could be improved in document sharing.
In construction you are always working from remote locations and that being said, cloud based applications are the right direction. We have found other ways to access our server however, if you want a secure way to share and view documents, it works well.

  • Working on construction financials is slower than how we were processing information before. We had more flexibility when working directly on our server rather than on the cloud.

Project management tools are most helpful to our company at this point. We are effectively using RFIs, Submittals, Photos, Drawings and Specification tools. Our plan is to begin working with the daily logs to improve tracking field progress and information.
There are many levels of computer literacy within a company. The product should be more intuitive rather than requiring as much training and support. All the hours of training it takes to make someone a Procore expert can scare away the managers that are less computer literate. You know you have a successful software when it requires little direction to be functional.
It is better suited for a construction management company or general contractor. Some of the tools are more than we need as a mechanical contractor. We typically do not lead the project meetings or the schedules. The place where this works the best for our company is having the documents available in the field. It is also helpful to be able to submit and/or write RFIs from anywhere. Having access to logs and reports is also a helpful feature.
