Overall Satisfaction with RingEX
We use the softphone and hardware phones with RingEX, as well as the faxing solution. Our old system was a mix of PBX and on-prem VOIP that was quite antiquated. We were still having to use SSH for all phone system changes. We needed a more modern, feature rich VOIP solution that could help bring both those that prefer using deskphones and those that prefer softphones together.
- Softphone and hardphone integration (allowing software to control speakerphone)
- IVR and User Management
- Voicemail integration
- Microsoft 365 integration
- Porting process (moving phone numbers from other carriers) was much better than experiences with competitors
- Pricing for SMB space is high compared to other solutions
- Still lagging behind 8x8 with desk phone support and integrations
- UI for managing Limited Extensions is significantly more cumbersome than user extensions
- Video meeting software still lags behind industry leaders (such as Zoom and MS Teams)
- No licensing option for Common Area Phones with routing features
- IVR has had significant increase in usage since switching
- Overwhelmingly positive feedback from stakeholders and users
- No longer need a separate dedicated internet connection for phone system
- Significantly less time spent managing phone system changes
Automating call handling is such a breeze compared to our previous phone system. End users also have access to many call flow functions that were previously only available on the back end of our old system. We no longer have a separate phone system, SIP provider, fax server, and phone network connection provider, since RingEX is handling all of these.
- 8x8 X Series, Zoom Phone, Zoom and Microsoft Teams
Our sister campuses are using Microsoft Teams as the phone system. While MS Teams works great for collaboration, storage, and video conferencing, there are still many issues with using them as the phone system. Desk phone integration with Teams is nothing short of horrible, as the phones require the Teams app and is not user friendly outside of very expensive handsets, as the software just uses too much processing to work well on inexpensive hardware. I used 8x8 phone system when I worked with SMB space in the past. I have very little negative to say about my past experiences with them; however they do not offer the best experience and support for larger businesses. Zoom is very inexpensive; however their desk phone integrations are not very good, and they are now charging extra for security features that should be standard for most enterprise VOIP solutions so their pricing is misleading. They do not have the best third party integrations (e.g., they do not work well with MS Teams because they assume you want to use Zoom for video conferencing).
