Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
I use Sage Intacct for all accounting functions including journal entries, financial reporting, fixed assets, prepaids, accounts receivable, cash management, and general ledger. I use the product daily. It addresses reporting issues and general accounting issues such as reconciliations. There are definitely limitations when it comes to the financial reporting, though.
- I love the dimension balance report, it adds another layer to reconciling accounts.
- The account, location, department grouping ability make building custom reports much easier.
- Overall Sage Intacct is user friendly and easy to navigate, which makes training new staff easier.
- The running balance on the general ledger could just be a line item balance with a total balance at the bottom. The running balance creates confusion for a lot of people.
- Within the reports, you can't distinguish between revenue and expense variance items. For example if the calculation you run for variance is budget - actuals, that only works for expenses.
- Even though there are smart rules created they don't apply to automated modules such as accounts receivable. I've had employees enter in invoices without certain dimensions, and this excludes them from financial reporting. If there are smart rules set up that entries can not be posted without certain dimensions, that should apply to EVERYTHING.
- From my experience, the duplication error mentioned before very much negatively impacted business.
- Not being able to have different calculations for columns on financial reports is a negative impact on business.
- The majority of modules being user friendly has a positive impact on business.
I don't believe that general ledger is very automated. Rothman uses the accounts payable and accounts receivable modules daily, and they have both worked great. My issue with the automation is that smart rules for dimensions do not apply to items being entered into the automated modules, which messes with financial reporting. This is a big flaw with the automated pieces.
Unfortunately, I do not have experience in these areas.

Are you happy with Sage Intacct's feature set?
Yes
Did Sage Intacct live up to sales and marketing promises?
I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process
Did implementation of Sage Intacct go as expected?
Yes
Would you buy Sage Intacct again?
Yes
I've worked with Elan in the past, which is not included in the list. I think overall they are fairly similar, but Elan had a much better accounts receivable module. It had the ability to put in billing schedules and auto generate billings every month, something that Sage Intacct does not have.
