Overall Satisfaction with SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor

We use SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor (SAM) to monitor all of our applications to ensure availability and performance. Only the IT department utilizes it, but its impact detects outages across all aspects of the business. SAM addresses the need to know and react, and serves as our first line of defense against downtime, while also providing insight into how applications are performing.
  • HTTPS Monitoring.
  • SQL Server Insight.
  • IIS Monitoring.
  • Support has gotten worse.
  • Simplified UI.
  • Custom pollers are complicated to set up.
  • Increased availability of services.
  • New products/big feature releases tend to have too many bugs to start with that cause our system to work poorly.
  • Ability to calculate how much disk space we need vs what we are using.
While Nagios Core is free, SolarWinds is much more user-friendly and easy to configure.
SolarWinds Server & Application Monitor is great if you want insight into the availability of your nodes or applications. It is great at detecting when a host or service is down, and the polling intervals are customizable.
