Overall Satisfaction with Squarespace

I am a freelance writer/editor who uses Squarespace for the lifestyle website I run, as well as the website of a nonprofit organization for which I handle communications projects. For my lifestyle website, my colleague and I use Squarespace to publish and manage our blog, events listings, and our online shop. For the nonprofit, it exists to convey our mission, engage our community via our blog, and point to our fundraising platform (Classy).
  • The templates alone have saved us countless amounts of time, energy, and money, as they're extremely intuitive and perfect for someone who does not have a strong design background and who does not know how to code.
  • I love how easy it is to create a dynamic page with the various (and growing) component options, including photo galleries and integrations with social media platforms.
  • Squarespace's customer service is king. Live chat + responsive email replies makes for a very supportive experience.
  • We'd love the ability to link to a specific hashtag in a blog post. For example, when we host an event, we'd love to be able to show the photo feed using the hashtag on Instagram.
  • For Commerce, our shop is unique in that it includes numerous different makers, who all use different shipping methods. We'd like to be able to assign a shipping cost to a product on an individual basis.
  • For the calendar, we have a robust events section and often feature 30+ events in it. We've created a summary under the calendar to better feature events, as the calendar feature is not very easy on the eyes. We'd love to see both more calendar view options as well as the maximum number of summary items displayed lifted from 30 to unlimited.
  • Boosted traffic to our website.
  • The ability to turn on developer mode helped us further establish our brand.
  • We've been able to generate sales in our shop thanks to its commerce capabilities.
I've used Movable Type and WordPress before, and for me, they are like the PC versions to the Mac version, which is Squarespace. It's beautifully intuitive and dynamic, and anyone can use it. It eliminates the need to know any coding or have a strong design eye. I won't say it's an effortless platform, but it sure makes it feel that way.
Squarespace has been amazing for building a website and hosting a blog. In the area of e-commerce, it could definitely use some improvements.
