Overall Satisfaction with ThoughtSpot

We are using ThoughtSpot to democratize the data across the company. It was initially launched for a single department but within weeks it was being used across the entire enterprise. It mainly solves the business problem of having static reports. It is very difficult, if not impossible, for a report developer to think about all the permutations and combinations which users might be interested in. ThoughtSpot solves this problem brilliantly.
  • ThoughtSpot is great at answering questions no one asked before.
  • SpotIQ helps identifying the data quality issues.
  • Giving users ability to create their own reports is a huge plus.
  • Lightening fast performance on terabytes of data.
  • ThoughtSpot can do a better job of providing prescriptive analytics.
  • Live connection for other databases is a much needed feature.
  • Pinboard canvas should allow for custom size rather than sticking to 5 pre-defined sizes.
  • More features needed in pinboard level filters.
  • Overall customer satisfaction has improved dramatically after implementing ThoughtSpot.
  • Turnaround time to develop reports has reduced.
Users learn it very quickly. It is as easy as using google search. Once the users get hang of it, they try new things and search for new things. It is also very easy to publish the reports for mass consumption. If you have data which can be queried readily available, then putting it in ThoughtSpot takes only a few hours at most.
The answers are accurate since the schema designs are very easy. Once you have the data available in a relational database, then loading it into ThoughtSpot and making it available for the queries is very fast. A small project can be deployed in as fast as one week or less.
ThoughSpot does a good job of following Steve Job's philosophy about not requiring a user manual. The interface is crisp, clean and very simple to use. The performance is lightening fast. Users are given curated data which is vetted by the data owners, hence the chances of getting wrong answer are very low.
Our BI developers used to spend lot of time answering people's questions and making small changes. Now they spend most of their time on high value and complex projects. This is helping with both customer satisfaction by enabling self-service as well employee satisfaction by focusing more on higher value projects.
ThoughtSpot is very well suited to make data available across the company. It does lack at connecting R and other tools to the database for further enrichment of the data. Mobile app is not available.
