WatchGuard EPDR is used to protect our Endpoints including workstations and servers from malware, provide web filtering and application, and used for finding application vulnerabilities and patching.

  • Patches application vulnerabilities
  • Provide web filtering and blocks access to malicious sites
  • Blocks phishing emails and phishing domains
  • Root cause analysis and investigation for domains blocked by web filtering and executable blocked by antivirus
  • Collaboration with the WatchGuard Firebox and WatchGuard AuthPoint products
  • Data loss prevention
  • Patch management has made fixing vulnerabilities in applications much easier
  • The antiexploit and EDR solutions keeps me from being concerned about malware and ransomware attacks on my endpoints
  • Web filtering and application control has made protecting remote workers possible
WatchGuard EPDR provides more features and better network protection than Crowdstrike. The patch management add-on of WatchGuard EPDR is not available in Trend Micro Worry-Free, Sophos Endpoint Security, or Crowdstrike solutions. WatchGuard EPDR is easy to centrally managed and provides very robust and comprehensive features and functionality.

I have found WatchGuard EPDR very easy and intuitive to manage while providing lots of flexibility by allowing different policies to be applied by groups of devices.
We love having our Endpoint Security managed through the WatchGuard Cloud and find it very easy to deploy, managed, and monitor our endpoints especially since our workforce is remote.
This solution is well suited for companies looking for a bundled endpoint solutions for protecting against malware, ransomware, and APT and needing patch management, device control, and device encryptions. However, this solution does not have advanced data loss prevention tools and is not well suited for iPhone or Android device.

Evaluating WatchGuard EPDR and Competitors

Yes - WatchGuard EPDR replaced Sophos Central Endpoint with Intercept X. Primarily we decided to use WatchGuard EPDR because of the added Zero Trust features and Patch Management add-on.

WatchGuard EPDR Implementation

Overall, we deployed WatchGuard EPDR very rapidly and had very few issues with installing the agents and did not encounter issues or conflicts with applications.

Change management was a minor issue with the implementation - Organize systems into logical groups by function and type of user. Test policies with small groups before deploying to entire environment.

When we push for it, WatchGuard will get on the phone, do a remote session, and review the debug logs in real-time.
WatchGuard support will always help you if you take the time to call them. However, sometimes the tech assigned works outside of our time zone which causes delay when working with them through email.
