Overall Satisfaction with Widen

We use it to store our stock of documents images and videos for use in our materials (e.g. marketing, reports, posters, etc.). Specifically, Acquia DAM (Widen) offers our team the ability to easily create a searchable database of docs, images, and videos for use on all our projects. Recently, we started exploring the idea of putting all our contracts on the database as well since it's easy to navigate and search.

Pros

  • Image and Video storage and search - can search based on a significant amount of fields
  • searching for words in documents from the master search bar
  • Flagging items to see what approval stage they are at

Cons

  • creating subfolders to organize documents
  • sharing across org
  • search by activity/event
  • large capacity to store data
  • streamlining communication - we no longer need to send tons of emails back and forth
  • storing data in a single place reduces the likelihood that an asset will be lost when someone leaves the org
over time, we expect to see more teams use the platform in different ways - e.g. the team working on media relations will use it more often
Whenever we come across a new scenario and want to check if Acquia DAM (Widen) can be used differently, the team from Acquia DAM (Widen) is quick to hop on a call with us to discuss
its allowed us to share with more team members but we don't use any of the advance features on our team as far as I know
SharePoint was initially envisioned for much our database management but we found it lacked the strong search functionality and asset management features needed for a fully fledged creative team

It is well suited when creating a database of creative materials and sharing them with a broader team. Acquia DAM (Widen) really shines when you have a sizable library of content as it allows you to use a wide variety of tags, edit metadata and even search by complex combinations. Where it doesn't do as well is with documents mixed in. It is difficult to use as a document database (e.g. press releases) as structuring subfolders is significantly harder than other software.
