Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Acquia DAM (Widen) as our digital asset management platform for our marketing team. We utilize the Drupal connector to implement DAM images on our 4 public websites. Internally among the marketing team, we use the Workflow tool to manage project requests from other departments and assign out deliverables as applicable in our department.

Drupal connector does not allow the same filtering that DAM search does, which makes it difficult to find images when connecting to the website.
No ability to make request forms public, so in a large system where many departments may be requesting marketing projects, we are having to create user profiles and grant access to each one manually.
No notifications when someone is made a project manager or deliverables manager in the Workflow tool, so often our team misses things until they get directly tagged in a comment.

Return on Investment

Our workflows are streamlined and project management is in a better place, but the offset to that is that it's more setup/management for folks to access the request forms.
Brand consistency has been easier to manage with the portal features.
Sharing and embed codes are easier in the Acquia DAM (Widen) than our previous platform.

Our support team has been great to work with and provides resolutions quickly and accurately.

DAM System Solution

Our previous DAM platform allowed us to have a centralized organization of assets, but the Acquia DAM (Widen) has helped drastically improved the structure and usability of the organizations. Their tagging and filter approach instead of trying to bury things 6 folder levels down has been a gamechanger for non-technical users being able to find the things they need.

While the file organization and tagging/filtering is clearly superior to the previous DAM platform we were using (which was death by a thousand folders), the lack of carryover of the same filtering system to the Drupal plugin has made managing our website's imagery a bit more difficult. The proofing tools are great for graphic projects, but long-form copy has been a struggle for our team to manage a proofing process and leave/make text changes smoothly. Overall, the system is a great DAM platform. The struggles come from the plugins and tools that we rely on that leave a bit to be desired.
