15Five is a great platform, but it's very simplified and in the 4+ years that I've used it as an employee, I don't feel it has been changed or improved at all. While I'm sure there have been some minor updates, it has stayed virtually the same, which again leads me back to the feeling of "Groundhog day". Data collection plants the seeds for the future of any business, and the need is obviously there, but the monotony of it from an employee's perspective can also contribute to a decline in job joy. Overloading employees with reporting tasks across dozens of software platforms can lead to a major lack of productivity. As for where this platform is suited - in any organization that has a large number of entry-level employees who are all learning at different paces, with a great deal of upward mobility potential, this could be a very useful way to collect feedback and focus career development. In an organization full of senior-level employees with limited upward mobility who are results (or income) focused, this will be seen as an absolute waste of time and disrespectful to senior employees.

Pre-employment screenings for DOT regulated drivers is still a challenge and doesn't take advantage of the online ordering options that HireRight can offer for other roles (though the DOT is equally to blame for this). HireRight really shines when we are screening individuals for roles not regulated by the DOT, or when we are using their batch upload option to process large numbers of requests at once (e.g. random drug screenings, Annual MVR pulls). In these areas, it has saved us a huge amount of time that would have otherwise been wasted on repetitive, administrative tasks.

  • The technology - 15Five manages all the organization of questions/submissions, and reminders.
  • Simplicity - 15Five isn't difficult to set up. And all of our users found it very easy to interface with.
  • Great features - You can add as many answers as you want. You can tag people. You can do a lot with it.

  • Once the candidate’s email is entered online on the HireRight site, an email is automatically delivered to the job candidate asking them to provide their applicable background information so the check can be initated. An email is sent to the company once the results of the check comes back.
  • You can login to the website at anytime to see what the status of the background check is.
  • You have the ability to obtain current and past invoices online via the website, making budget tracking that much easier.

  • Although I mentioned customization as a positive aspect, it could use some improvements. The backend process of updating the questions, and setting them to a certain schedule, can be a bit confusing. This process could be streamlined.
  • The commenting process can be a bit confusing. If a person is tagged/mentioned in a comment, they are typically sent an email notifying them. However, it can be difficult to locate where you can reply and continue the conversation. Although a simple issue, it seems it could be easily rectified.
  • I would like to see more integration of the team portion of 15Five. It seems this feature is not as prominent, so you can easily get stuck in just your specific 15Five information.

  • Customer service, as the lowest level doesn't always seem to have the same or similar responses. Some will say they can do certain things and some will say they cannot.
  • Account management for one particular client was terrible. Anytime we asked for her assistant she referred us to the customer service email. This client paid for the account manager and there was no value-add for having her.
  • Mistakes were often made with international education checks. Often times we had to collect our own information or documents. Many times I noticed incorrect phone numbers being reached out to.

It's very simple to use - not overly complicated. You wouldn't need training to use. There are some features I never use because I don't understand -- like one on ones. However we use without and still find a lot of value in it!

The 15Five support team is amazing. They were always willing to speak with me when I did something wrong in the system and never had a harsh or placing judgment tone in their voices. They respond quickly and promptly and allowed me to learn something new each time I cross lines with them. I am thankful for their knowledge and customer service they shared with me when I needed it.

There are various ways you are able to call HireRight. They do have busy times and so the live chat is helpful because you are able to leave the chat open until an agent is available (and do work than being tied to a phone).

I've used Asana and Jira. Jira has too much functionality for a team like ours and Asana didn't have enough gamification for our team. At the end we chose 15Five because it was simple to use and easy to follow, it also allowed the manager to review each individual on the team quickly and effectively.

We have used 2 or 3 other background check companies and I like HireRight because they are the easiest to get in touch with someone when any help is needed. The website is user friendly and you can easily check what is pending, what is completed, etc., across users. They are also much faster than the previous companies we worked with.

  • HireRight is a Pay as You Go platform, so there are no long-term contracts to worry about. We customized our template for the information we consistently need and fill in the demographics. I would say that the ROI is 100% - we have been able to vet out the less desirable candidates based on some of the information.
