Likelihood to Recommend

Adobe Acrobat DC

Adobe Acrobat DC is necessary and well suited for professionals who receive multiple PDFs from various sources, and need a program to view those. Depending on the version, the option to redact info and covert non-PDFs to PDFs is also very necessary. Less appropriate situations for needing this program would be graphic designers, as photoshop would have similar capabilities. having the capabilities of photoshop as an expectation and then opening up adobe acrobat usually leads to disappointment at Adobe's limitations.

Very good for easy project management without too many details and administration work. In comparison to e.g. JIRA, it's much less complicated which can be a big advantage for e.g. a design team like mine but of course, it can also be a disadvantage for complex IT projects. This is why we're using both in our company.

Pros

Adobe Acrobat DC

  • Accessibility checker. Adobe Acrobat DC includes an accessibility check tool in the Action Wizard that highlights potential issues and helps you fix them.
  • Form creation. We upload a lot of different forms and Adobe Acrobat DC makes creating fillable forms simple.
  • Combine PDFs. We receive many Word documents that must be combined into a single PDF. Adobe Acrobat DC has a great drag and drop feature so we can see a preview of the pages we are combining and moving in order.

Cons

Adobe Acrobat DC

  • Accessibility hints. While the accessibility tool is great, we often have users who don't know how to fix certain issues. Tool tips would help.
  • Reduce file size without quality loss. Large file sizes can be troublesome for mobile users. Adobe Acrobat DC has tools to save PDFs at a smaller size, but that often means losing overall quality.
  • More options for form distribution. Currently, form distribution only works through email, but expanding that to web integration would be extremely helpful.

Planview Projectplace

  • Some of the different views/stats seem a little cumbersome and overcrowd the dash
  • In a recent update the ability to drag and reorganize cards in the My Overview setting went away. The Group by dropdown is helpful, but I wish I was still able to rearrange the cards within each workspace/due date/etc.
  • With how I use Projectplace there aren't really a lot of cons!

For the most part, it is very quick. I only have issues when first starting my computer. Sometimes I have to restart my computer to get the program working

Planview Projectplace

I believe that Projectplace is on a good path to being one of the best workspace tools in the market. It should leverage the integration with Planview. If a customer has both Projectplace and Planview, and wishes to maintain both licenses, then they should not have to pay for the integration. You're securing a customer if you enable them to more easily implement your tools into their day to day.

Return on Investment

Adobe Acrobat DC

  • Employee efficiency. This has improved employee efficiency (which saves costs) in being able to share comments electronically in pdfs rather than have to meet in person.
  • International collaboration. This allows for more international collaboration, which can extend the reach of visibility of the organization and thereby the breadth of customers attracted.
  • Cost. Given the high cost of the program, some could argue that it decreases ROI when there are other free options available that have slightly more limited functionality.
