Adobe Acrobat DC

Adobe Acrobat is very reliable when transferring documentation since it allows to perform vitally important work with documents in a faster way, with fewer errors, and with greater security and efficiency. Offering the ability to work with important documents anywhere, Acrobat DC with Document Cloud services provides perfection in desktops, the Internet and mobile devices, including touch devices.

Pros

  • Adobe Acrobat is designed to visualize, create and modify files in PDF format, it is very common to display text with an ordered visual design.
  • This tool can be presented in the main operating systems such as Linux, OS X Mac, Unix, Windows without modifying the appearance or structure of the original document and not losing the format with sending to other users

  • Document review and Signoff

Cons

  • Program size. By far, the main drawback is that my computer does not have enough processing capability to handle. It is VERY slow to install and often slow to open too.
  • Functionality. There are some types of commenting that the program does not handle as well (e.g., hand written comments that you want to try to put in with your mouse).
  • Licenses. You only get two licenses with each subscription, which can make it expensive to implement in a large scale format.

  • Combining projects into programmes and portfolios is possible, but not as easy.
  • Simultaneous editing as supported by many other products is not possible.
  • The synch functionality can be a bit buggy or at least lacks user-friendliness, making it possible for documents to come out of synch and into multiple copies.
  • The pricing model and the management of the user count is cumbersome. Which users can be deleted? The model is developed around organisations locking into set packages.

Alternatives Considered

We have used Acrobat DC as part of our Adobe CC subscription since 2014 and as it has always sat well with our other software purchases and performed all the tasks required of it, we've never had a reason to look elsewhere. It may be that if our current trial of the fill and sign functionality doesn't produce the results we want then we'll look at other options then, but for now we'll definitely be sticking with Acrobat DC.

Return on Investment

  • Significantly reduced the amount of time taken from creating documents to being able to share them with clients.
  • Using the comment functionality allows on site editing of plans which can almost immediately be picked up in the office and actioned.
  • Although we are only just trialling this - we envisage that using Acrobat DC to allow customers to re-book with us on site will drastically increase the efficiency of our sales processes.

  • It provided a platform to communicate with the customer in a way that was easy for them.
