Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat

We use many of the tools within Adobe Acrobat, including Combine Files, Scan & OCR (for those unsearchable PDFs), Edit PDF, Create PDF, Prepare Form, Fill & Sign, and Request E-Signatures. One of the main use cases in our organization is the Request E-Signature tool - we use this multiple times a day to request signature approvals on Vendor Requests.
  • Combining files is an easy way to get multiple documents together in one (without having to manually copy/paste/snip/etc.)
  • The Prepare Form tool does an excellent job of detecting fillable form fields, which makes the process seamless.
  • Scan & OCR comes in handy when we receive scanned documents, instead of downloads.
  • In order for me to request e-signatures, I am first required to mark most fields as read-only - otherwise, the approver must click through each field.
  • When requesting e-signatures, I must insert a signature block every time I send a new document out for signature - there should be an easier way to include this by default.
  • Copying and pasting new fields that are added to PDFs does not work if you are looking for unique responses in down-down fields.
  • Covert PDF to Word
  • Request E-Signature
  • Fillable Form PDFs

  • Scalability

My organization made the decision to grant certain employees permissions to access the Enterprise Adobe account. My decision to use Adobe was not exactly something I had a whole lot of influence on. I do like how I can manage my documents and other files in the cloud, instead of having to be on my local machine/network.
  • GRC Team was able to reduce around 50% of errors related to manual word to pdf conversions, increasing productivity to 90%.
  • With Adobe fillable PDF, time to complete a request has been cut down by 25% overall.
  • Cloud management of files has improved the security and visibility around data storage.
Our organization conducts a third-party risk assessment on Adobe annually. This is to ensure that Adobe security controls are still operating effectively and in a manner that aligns with our internal compliance standards. Adobe's routine issuance of due diligence documents and audit reports provides assurances that Adobe is committed to security for its clients.
  • Foxit PDF Editor (FoxitPhantom) and DocuSign
Overall, Adobe has a better reputation than Foxit PDF Editor; while many of my colleagues prefer the features of Foxit (over Adobe), Adobe remains more secure and provides our organization with a higher level of comfort. DocuSign is a great tool for requesting signatures on documents, however, it does not have the great PDF editing tools like Adobe does.

Adobe works well for most use-cases in our organization. One thing I have heard from my colleagues is that it is way too expensive of a product and there are alternative solutions that work just as well, if not better. A few minor changes in the way the Prepare Form tool works could make the product a much better solution.

Evaluating Adobe Acrobat and Competitors

If I were to change my evaluation process, I would likely look to review all features that are available and also attempt to learn how to use them all. I would then look at some of the other solutions available to determine which solution makes most sense for for the cost.

Yes - The mobile interface works well, although you will need to install the Adobe Sign app separately from Acrobat in order to request request signatures when using the mobile app. I would prefer to have all Adobe features built into one mobile application, instead of having to install multiple Adobe apps.
My overall experience with Adobe is great because because the it has almost all of the tools in one place and it can be used it for most of my work without going anywhere else. Because the tools are available right there in the main interface, it makes it very easy to use.
