RUN Powered by ADP®
Chose RUN Powered by ADP®
We were not able to keep a PEO for business purposes and had to change. Since we were with ADP TotalSource, sales offered RUN Powered by ADP® but we probably would have been better off with a whole different product/brand. RUN Powered by ADP® associates promised ease and smooth …
Chose RUN Powered by ADP®
ADP seemed to have more customer service capabilities, I can get questions answered pretty quickly vs. the previous company we used. Also, the fact that you can utilize several products under the RUN Powered by ADP® umbrella was a plus. We feel the product is easier to use …
Chose RUN Powered by ADP®
We selected RUN Powered by ADP because it was much more efficient to run bi-weekly payrolls and were having customer service issues with the prior vendor.
Chose RUN Powered by ADP®
TotalSource was a very good service but we didn't use enough of the features to make the cost worth it to us.
ADP ezLaborManager is good at collecting punches and producing accurate reports. Doesn't identify late or no lunches. It downloads into ADP RUN well.

Chose TriNet
We use Justworks quite a bit, but the difference is the designated support specialist. They only offer a general # to call into or a chat box. Also, they don't offer an audit prior to payroll processing, which I find helpful to keep accuracy and detect any errors. The JW …
Chose TriNet
In my opinion, TriNet is old and slow compared to some of the others.
Chose TriNet
TriNet was already in use when I started, I switched off of this software as soon as I was able to. ADP and Sequoia both had better customer support, though similar reporting functionality and UX. TriNet was better than both at payroll.
Chose TriNet
TriNet offered us a huge financial incentive to switch to their PEO. Benefit costs seem to be more expensive than competitors.
Chose TriNet
I didn't select TriNet, it was at my organization when I got here. No one at TriNet gave my company information on how hard it is to move companies in the middle of the quarter. Even UKG did that. I think that every other system works better.
Chose TriNet
TriNet has way more guardrails setup to avoid compliance issues. TriNet's knowledge center is immensely more helpful.
Chose TriNet
Response time is much better with TriNet. All parts of their site are well-designed for a smooth user experience. Administration costs are reasonable (some others are offensively high and remind you that you could just hire another FT employee to do this work).
Chose TriNet
Their service is way better than ADP. I was not impressed with the ADP PEO response times and provided support. I would recommend TriNet over them any day if you are looking for a reliable PEO. Oracle is outdated, when I was recently using it within a company, very clunky. Payl…
Chose TriNet
They both have their good and bad. The assistance with ADP was much faster.
Chose TriNet
did not have much experience with similar product
Chose TriNet
TriNet had more knowledge and experience with non-profit organizations, benefit rates were comparable or lower.
Chose TriNet
Frankly, I didn't select TriNet, I inherited it from our previous HR manager. I am not sure that I would have selected it. While I would not have selected Justworks, I have had amazing experiences with ADP and based on cost and options would have been more likely to choose them …
Chose TriNet
ADP is meant for very large organizations. Expensive and not very user friendly.
Chose TriNet
Trinet has more features than Gusto and QuickBooks Online as far as HR reporting, census, off-cycle payroll, tax reports etc. But the biggest thing it doesn't have that all of these other do is a live chat feature that is completely necessary for immediate payroll issues that …
Chose TriNet
They were about the same. We went with TriNet because of a bad experience I had with Paychex. However, TriNet started off strong and then the service went downhill. Finally, as I wrote, the state setup/final tax filings not being done makes me say I will not go back to Trinet.
Chose TriNet
ADP's cost, user interface, benefits offered etc. were not as good a match for our company as TriNet's offerings. TriNet appeared much more user friendly with a significantly easier learning curve. TriNet also offered a greater all-in package for our small business.
Chose TriNet
Three years ago, when I switched, TriNet was better because it had a better, easier website, more insurance choices, and it was a little bit cheaper at the time.
Chose TriNet
I found cheaper options but was confident in TriNet as a company. Your core business seemed like an "add-on" for others.

Ardelle Stoute did a great sales job as did Hope Webber as our customer service interface.

ADP
Anyone running a service or mobile business would love the ease of clocking in and out with GPS services. Small and medium sized businesses looking to offload some of their accounting and HR functionality would all appreciate it. I helped my brother-in-laws housecleaning business get set up with RUN Powered by ADP®, as well as a friend's dry cleaning company.

I would not use this company for anything. [I believe my] employees [absolutely] hate the software and there are constantly glitches in the software which occur every payroll run, benefits enrollment, etc. [I have spent] large amounts of time on the phone with outsourced customer support[,] so think twice when comparing [the] cost to other providers. [I feel] you [will] need someone full time to deal with all of their issues. We are currently in the process of setting up another PEO company. The amount of money and time to implement ADP has been a huge loss.

I truly believe TriNet is the best PEO out there. Our specialist, [...], was top notch and always made me feel special. I appreciate all the features available, not just for my employees but for me, as an HR specialist. The benefits I am now able to offer is why we joined but all the features and ease of use is what will keep us clients moving forward. My only issue was feeling a bit rushed through training. I was told I would get written procedures but they were pretty antiquated.

Pros
ADP
  • Payroll runs are consistent, timely, and error‑free, even when handling multiple pay rates, deductions, or changes. Direct deposits process smoothly and predictably.
  • RUN Powered by ADP® manages federal, state, and local tax withholding, filings, and payments without requiring manual oversight. This significantly reduces compliance risk and administrative workload.
  • Common actions—running payroll, adding new employees, updating pay rates—are straightforward and guided, which helps prevent mistakes.

ADP
  • Payroll was easy to learn and use with time tracking in a short time frame
  • Tracking team members request offs and approving them were very easy
  • Customizing reports for specific periods of time. This made is very easy for end of year tracking for total hours worked and total dollars paid.

  • Customer support is great when working with Amy Hoffman. She's always very quick to respond and helpful. I'd say she's the thing that makes me want to stay with TriNet the most.
  • The webinars are very helpful. I utilize those frequently and our CFO has signed up for some as well.
  • The expense management system has been very helpful. There are a couple issues with it, but it's leaps better than what the company was doing before this system through TriNet.

Cons
ADP
  • I do wish there were additional custom deductions available rather than a limited amount.
  • Sometimes employees have trouble accessing their account after the initial invite has been sent.
  • Sometimes employee accounts get locked due to a reused email if their profile is deleted before they've signed up. Only a call to support can correct it.

ADP
  • Customer service is horrible
  • Follow up takes 7-10 days, and requires multiple inquiries from you, the client
  • The promised "dedicated team" doesn't exist
  • Onboarding is confusing to new hires
  • Explanation of benefits to new hires is useless and must be done in office, thereby negating any value.
  • They should not provide handling UI claims as as service. They have no ability to actually meet deadlines.

TriNet
  • The online interface for the annual benefits strategy is difficult to navigate and not intuitive.
  • Sometimes the payroll processing division provides explanations that are not very clear or accessible to non-HR professionals.
  • The cost of the service is at the higher end of the market offerings.

It is much better than the payroll system I used previously. The integrations that RUN has for on-boarding new hires are very convenient when they work properly. It saves a tremendous amount of time being able to email a link to new employees that allows them to enter much of their own demographic information. Payroll feature alerts me when someone's pay is significantly less or more than usual.

For the most part pages load quickly. Working for a software company we understand performance is everything, even a few seconds delay can feel like a lifetime, that being said, we ran into a few times where pages didn't load, information didn't load correctly, and an influx in users (like open enrollment) cause things to slow down

I appreciated having that issue finally take care of. it was extremely disheartening to see the issue had not been resolved. I also had my employees looking to me and thinking I was not trying to resolve the issue so it reflected poorly on my character. The support overall is very good. There seems to be a good number of customer support staff and they are knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with and it almost all cases are able to resolve the question or issue very quickly. My only complaint would be having to wait in some cases as I'm based in the UK and the correct department may not be open 24 hours.

Based on our experience, RUN Powered by ADP® was selected by our small business because our owner was seeking a robust, all-in-one payroll and HR solution that scales with our growth. At the moment, we have not investigated any of the products available in the drop-down list provided. However, we have evaluated some other (unavailable) products and have been intrigued by the potential decrease in fees along with the potential for a much more "rich" benefit plan. We can't speak to the level of customer service observed by current clients, only to apparent cost savings.

I liked Rippling's software better than TriNet. However, the pricing on employee benefits was through the roof, and they don't offer many selections/options. If it was a software only decision, I would go with Rippling (the 2.0 version of Zenefits which TriNet offers). However, the software isn't a major need, compared to smooth payroll and benefits that I get from TriNet (and great service). I'm happy at TriNet long term as long as the health insurance rates aren't exhorbinant.

  • It has cost us more money from a financial aspect and then taken away my main/other job duties because I have to focus all of my time on ADP TotalSource and basically fixing errors that happen weekly/every time an employee is added or terminated (which is more than the normal company due to the nature of our business).

  • Stay within HR Compliance - when the new laws about Salary change came into effect I received an email on impacted employees and how to address.
  • More involvement in employee benefits. With greater benefit selection more employees were able to find plans that suited their needs.
  • The TimeClock took a little time to get used to. It is still a little frustrating at times for hourly employees to be able to track how many hours they actually have for the week/pay-period. The off the clock meals count towards "hours" and employees have to subtract that out to be able to see what they need for the rest of the week.
