ADP RUN

RUN is good for companies that don't have a dedicated team for payroll and human resources. Everything you need can be found within the platform, including recruiting, forms and templates. If you don't want to take the time to add employees to the system, you can simply enter their name and email and turn it over to them to enter their info. Employees have access to their check stubs and can adjust their taxes, etc. on their own, saving the employer time and overhead. I don't believe that the platform is ideal for companies who have zero experience with payroll, as I believe having a dedicated representative for questions is more beneficial in those scenarios, but anyone who has done it for a few years should find the platform ideal and user-friendly.

If you are a small organization and administrative and financial staff are already strapped, TriNet makes generating reports and/or servicing employee issues so simple. The self-service aspect for employees is really a time-saver for administrators. Payroll processing - entering timesheets, generating pay stubs, reporting, etc. - is also straightforward and can be done in advance as opposed to only during a very short window of time like some payroll processing services

  • Easy to manage, access reports and enter data.
  • Easy to make changes to employee files (i.e. wage information, employee address, employee withholding)
  • The interface is nicely intuitive... makes entering hours and completing payroll smooth & uncomplicated.

  • TriNet client services is fast, responsive and knowledgeable when you contact them with questions about the marketplace, options, or how to navigate the online portal as an administrator or employee user.
  • TriNet onboarding was so easy and quick. The account team at TriNet explains the process, walks you through each step, and asks and answers questions to customize your benefits and processes to meet your organization's needs.
  • TriNet reports are plentiful and easy to access. These can be printed, downloaded or emailed, which makes working with remote support services like a bookkeeper or accountant so simple.

Cons

  • A few months ago we encountered a glitch where an employee's rate of pay changed. Customer service suggested it was "user error" on my part, but when I reviewed the error, I was not able to actually change the rate of pay on the screen in question. At any rate, ADP took the time to walk me through the process and helped me solve the problem quickly.
  • ADP often contacts me to try and sell additional services. I find this to be a tad annoying.

  • TriNet utilizes Transamerica Financial Services as its 401K provider partner. Unfortunately, 401K reporting and individual account management is not integrated into TriNet's on-line "HR Passport" portal. Accordingly, additional steps are required to manage 401K programs, services, and safe harbor employer contributions. I would like to see these services integrated into HR Passport.
  • Payroll submission and customer management - while improving - still could use more simplification. Recent changes have made it easier to assign the day-to-day payroll tasks to others without compromising employee personal information, but it is still difficult to assign privileges.

Only because I need an orientation to onboarding employees with the new platform, and my representative says it is still in the works. The app works great, and if using a finger recognition, employees don't even have to remember their password. This is something that people really like. Also, I would like to know what other things can the platform do or that I am subutilizing.

ADP's site is much more user friendly than paychex but of course I haven't used their service in over 2 years so that may have changed.
