For a small employer, with very little turnover and few benefit options, ADP may be too costly for the benefit. There are many affordable payroll providers available for small organizations.For large employers with many benefits options, employees in multiple locations, multiple tax jurisdictions and varied pay types (salary, hourly, commission, etc), ADP is ideal. The extended customer service hours, extensive resources for international pay, and capability for multi state taxation is crucial for an international employer.

Other products in the same category as Kenexa 2x BrassRing would be Taleo and PeopleFluent. I would also look into Avature as an ATS option. I am currently on the sourcing side of the recruitment process and use Avature for tracking and candidate mining purposes. I would recommend getting any kind of demo possible since the user interfaces vary quite a bit between them. Ease of use and overall stability should be kept in mind when comparing ATS prices.

  • Allows updates within HR function to link directly with payroll and deductions.
  • Manage time and attendance and use those records to pay hourly employees accordingly.
  • Create time off policies and link those policies and requests directly to employees' time sheets to help ensure proper recording of time and attendance data.

Cons

  • We are unable to make HR changes once a payroll period is open which means that we often have to wait until the last minute to open a period which is difficult.
  • The inability to keep more than two weeks open at a time is problematic for our organization. We pay on a semi-monthly basis and it is hard sometimes to close a week because any changes by supervisors have to be in before you open a new pay period.
  • Implementation time to set up is very long and strenuous. Making changes to time and attendance policies and other systematic changes can be difficult and time consuming.
  • It feels at times as if the shifts between the different modules don't work as well as they were sold to us. Such as Time Off and Time and Attendance can cause many error messages that are confusing to supervisors and staff.

  • They tend to over promise on system capabilities
  • There has been past issues with resolving issues/help desk tickets. This has improved overall but the weekend support is lacking

The payroll support is excellent, but the support on the technical side is lacking. The support for the portal is especially lacking. I think they need more training to be able to serve the customer more efficiently. I have had issues with employees not being able to log in even after resetting the password, and have had to call back a couple of different times to get results. Luckily I don't have issues that I need to call them about very often.

There Tier 1 support is not knowledgable and things that should take less than 1 day can take 3-4 weeks to get resolved.

The instructions from the recruiting agency on how to use the system was pretty straightforward. It provided step-by-step procedures on where you would need to log in your hours as well as what you would need to highlight (i.e. regular, overtime, etc.) detailing the type of hours that were worked overall. The handout also provided some pictures of the application

Implementation

Either assign more than one specialist to the implementation process, or assign less clients to the implementation specialist. The process requires attention to detail and the ability to test and re-test as well as verify the information. It also requires a lot of back and forth between the client ant the implementation specialist, so they need to be readily available during the whole implementation process.

Alternatives Considered

ADP is by far the overall best solution. Reporting on the other programs don't measure up. The platforms are not as user friendly, and the interfaces aren't as eye pleasing

We recently started using Assess for our Food Service and Area Managers and the results have not been as accurate as Kenexa. We have since made some bad hires off the results of Assess, we have had one particular Area Manager that scored in the "Best" category and her behavior on the job did not correlate at all with her test scores. Though the test breaks each section down with a little bit more detail, I have found it difficult to interpret and provide feedback to candidates because some categories didn't have a scale that's easily interpreted.
