Paycor provides core HR functions scaled towards small and mid-sized businesses. Paycor offers an integrated benefits platform for interfacing directly with insurance carriers and an adaptable time management platform.
CORE is well suited for time entry and reporting across employee groups and projects. CORE can generate many useful reports, however the customization and filtering of these reports isn't exactly intuitive. It can be difficult to get the reports to show the data you want, and there is no way to remove data fields from a report or create a custom report.
Paycor is very easy to use and functional. I was not expecting it to be so robust based on the reasonable pricing in comparison to other HRISs. Our employees also enjoy using it. Paycor has made it very easy for payroll to be processed quickly. It functions well with the time tracking/scheduling system and syncs automatically. They are continuing to add new features (such as expense management) that have continued to save our team time when processing payroll. The only issue we have every come across is with the schedule API. We have set up an API for our schedule through Paycor and our phone system for our sales team to be "available" to take calls based on when they are scheduled through Paycor. This has had syncing issues a few times but Paycor is quick to resolve the issue, just frustrating when the integration breaks and we have to do the process manual until the fix is implemented. Paycor was not really purchased to address that specific need though so it was not a deal breaker for us that the integration might not be the perfect solution
Invoice Collections within Billing is a great tool because of the ability to take notes and track contact.
Invoices are professional looking and easy for our clients to understand the overall progress within each phase of their project.
Dashboards are the best tool EVER!
The Contact List feature within Clients setup is the perfect way to track multiple project managers within a large company that also has multiple contracts with us.
Paycor has a great feedback forum in which you can see what other users are requesting and complaining about. You can also view the status of those complaints, such as "working on it," "planned," "being considered," etc.
Paycor is a one-stop solution for most of what HR practitioners need to do.
Startup training is available (& you need it so that you get off to a great start)
A report that shows the key setups for a project that can be glanced over quickly to assure it is correct
A way to set a new start date for the dashboards and data set, or a way to default old bad data to a default so reports run without bad data showing up.
The Time Accrual platform has lots of room for improvement. Employees should be able to accurately track their time off and it should not be confusing as to how their time is calculated. The submitted upcoming Time Off Requests should also be allowed to edit and make changes. They should not have to delete their requests and start over.
The "NEW" timecard view does not function appropriately with some errors. In particular with "punch out of bounds" errors. The managers cannot view these errors to correct them, they have to toggle back to the old view in order to acknowledge them.
The Benefit's platform could use some improvement with different fiscal years and calendar years. When our employees make an election for a retirement contribution the system cannot decipher between our fiscal year (July 1) and the calendar year calculations.
We have been using Core for a few years now, and honestly started to look at other software systems to see what was out there. What we chose was a nightmare for migration so we never left Core. Now we have added invoicing and payments from Core instead of double entry with QBO. Still only a few cycles in but looks like it will be up to speed soon and working smoothly.
The product is really good overall. The customer service is not the best and the benefits administration is kind of painful. However, the good outweighs the bad. We might get a different benefit admin system that can be integrated into Paycor. My controller doesn't want to switch anything for a [long] time.
It's very easy to use and straightforward. Everything is laid out in an easy to use pattern and can be changed, somewhat, based on user preference. The options are limited but it's a pleasant experience using the product and I can perform the tasks I need to perform quickly and without any issues.
In my opinion, the system does not work all the time. In my experience, some pages have to be refreshed because the buttons have disappeared. I feel like many settings/setups require many steps that have to be completed in different areas or on different pages. When you submit an idea to the enhancement requests, I feel like they are regularly closed with no info only stating that they are not currently working on that idea.
This is one area that does need some improvement. It can be slow at time, so we had our IT look at it from our side and we had no issues, so it has to be some slowness on their side.
Our team has had to contact support on a number of occasions, mostly to address a slow system and/or not being able to log in. The support is very responsive and fixes the issue within the same day. Additionally, any time we need to modify codes, BQE helps with that support and gets it turned around quickly.
I'd give a zero if that were an option. I currently have multiple requests for support that have not been answered in over a week. I have called their support phone line and usually hung up after waiting for 45 minutes for someone to answer. It is unlikely to get a quick response, EVER, even to urgent problems that effect taxes and benefit submission.
Implementation of any new software is going to be challenging, especially if you are maintaining an existing program concurrently. When it is time for dual-processing (both old and new software) prior to going live, be prepared to be stressed. But trust the process and it will be over soon.
I am a user and was not involved in the decision making. Tool was already in place when I joined. But comparing to other tools I have used in the past, BQE is by far the easiest to use. You do not need any training to start using this tool immediately
Paycor is very similar, but seems to have taken the opportunity to make improvements based on what client's want/need, have an effective customer support system, and has more intuitive user experience. The others were smaller less robust systems that we evolved out of. Trakstar Hire is our current ATS, which isn't perfect but works for now.
