Chargebee is really well suited to any growing company. There is probably a lighter-weight solution that might be optimized for a 5 person startup. There may be better options if you're the size of Google. But if you're a venture-backed startup, growing anywhere from Series B to Series E it's great. The tool is purpose-built for SaaS billing, but it now has a ton of features that make non-SaaS billing easy as well.

Metanga is easy for automating recurring billing and it has quite a nice trusted API platform but, one time payments require workarounds. Metanaga is well suited for customizing subscriptions and payments.

  • Simple interface that new employees are able to navigate fairly easily
  • Provides simple dashboard information you need.
  • Really love the dunning that makes it much easier for us to collect expired credit card info. Otherwise we'd be doing it manually and that would be a huge pain

  • Easy functionality integration with other financial systems.
  • We were able to integrate it with CRM programs and that helped in expediting the subscription services.
  • Rich API features and proper documentation helped a lot.

Chargebee

  • One area that is difficult is that I don't have an easy way to allow users to select their own plan options. I have monthly and yearly plans, but no way to let the customer choose (not without custom code). This is the one thing that has caused extra work for me.
  • Configuring additional custom fields in the checkout form is possible, but not very intuitive.

  • If we wanted to use one time payment, it required lot of hassle and workaround.

It's very easy to use once you know what you're doing. I found it very straight forward once I got the hang of things and was able to create plans easily for my business. I was also able to just charge my clients right away easily. Refunding was also easy when needed.

A strong balance between flexibility and simplicity -- Chargebee has proved to be a product that is well liked across the organization, and from a technical standpoint does not present too many hiccups for our developers. We also feel the pricepoint is good in a market which often has very taxing pricing structures

It has a clean and simple interface. [There are] automatic notifications for failed transactions. The easy integration with Intacct, Netsuite, QuickBooks, SOFTRAX and other financial systems to extend functionality made us choose Metanga over Zuora.
