CIC Plus was designed to set up local and state taxes for employees in the payroll system. Taxes were not being set up for work locations and there was a lot of manual entry as well as audits that had to be done to set up employees properly.

Paylocity

Paylocity is well suited for most companies that need to automate the way they manage their payroll. Useful financial reporting tools that even help the accounting department indirectly. Human resources management included which gives a lot of extra time. Compatibility with each department achieving a constant and centralized workflow that guarantees the progression of operations in the company.

Paylocity

  • It has a very cool and easy to use recognition function called impressions. Instead of a simple instant message or email saying thank you, you can offer an impression saying thanks that can be categorized and made public the rest of the company when they access Paylocity. It's just a cool function that spreads thanks and engagement across the organization with little cost and effort.
  • The self service portal for employees is easy to use as well. If you need to access vacation accrual and balances, PTO requests, pay check stubs, pay information, need to change your address or name, etc. it's very easy to find and navigate. You don't need to dig or click everywhere.
  • The journal entry function is useful too for 1:1 meetings or check in meetings for manages and their direct reports. It gives an easy module to record notes, discuss topics, attach documents, or make notes of items that need to be followed up on. Not everyone here uses it, but it does help organize meetings and keep them on track.

  • CIC Plus needs to set up the local taxes for employees' home and work location.
  • CIC Plus does not automatically set up taxes for a new hire unless the new hire goes to CIC Plus website and fills out the paperwork.
  • CIC Plus needs to have an automatic feed for every new hire that automatically sets up ALL the home and work location taxes for the employee.

  • The customer service is a joke. Our account manager is slow to respond and often gives wrong or incomplete answers.
  • The tax department is incredibly slow and disorganized, which has resulted in late penalties and errors on our filings.
  • You cannot contact any department without going through your account manager, which if you have a bad one like we do, means you often get roadblocked in getting your issues resolved.
  • There is no sense of urgency or accountability in customer service.
  • You are expected to largely self-serve. Often when you reach out for help, the customer care rep doesn't know any more about the system than you do.

Our employees provide positive feedback on their experience with using Paylocity as their time, benefits, and payroll provider.

Every time I call, their security is amazing. You have to provide company ID, your name, and your employee ID# so that they know whether or not they can speak to you or give you any information. When you have a question they are always available to walk you through whatever it is you are having trouble with. If they don't have an answer, they will take your information and get back to you in a timely manner.

BSI Tax Profile works to set up taxes for employees Home and Work location. It works as designed and requires a lot less auditing of employees' tax set up.

Paylocity

ADP software is old, outdated and extremely problematic (glitches, crashes, freezes). The biggest issue we had with ADP was the wasted time trying to fix these issues (3-4 a week). We would spend hours on phone, writing emails, following up for things that should just WORK. Paylocity doesn't not have these issues so we can use the software for what its for and move on with more important tasks. This is a huge value to process since our turnover is high in out industry.

  • I wasn't involved in the cost aspect. I was the administrator of the CIC Plus system.
  • CIC Plus caused us to owe back taxes on local taxes that were not automatically set up for employees.
  • The taxes that were not paid timely had interest and penalties associated with them.

  • The robust reporting has allowed us to analyze our workforce in a way prior systems could not. We used the data to update our pay structures and reduce turnover.
  • The performance management system has dramatically improved our processes over decentralized paper methods. This improvement leads to higher engagement and therefore a more productive workforce.
  • The ability to link with business partners, such as our CPA, allows them to access they information they need to help advise us more efficiently.
