Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We currently use Paylocity for payroll. We switched over from another company because the other company didn't integrate with our current 401k provider. Paylocity addressed the issue we had and solved it by integrating flawlessly with our 401k provider.
  • Easy to use application for both staff and management to approve pto requests
  • Integrated with a 3rd party 401k company
  • Easy to use platform
  • Personable customer service and dedicated account manager
  • Sometimes PTO balances don't update until the end of the pay period.
  • Paylocity has helped use reduce time having to write checks for 401k team member contributions which has helped with retention as 401k and the ease of use is beneficial.
It has helped our company in being able to track PTO for our team. Each team members is aware of their balances as they can see it on their apps as well as I can track it all on both the portal and the app.
Paylocity was able to integrate with our 401k company John Hancock flawlessly and ADP couldn't. This was beneficial for us as we were able to save time instead of having to write and mail checks manually every pay period for 401k team member contributions.

Do you think Paylocity delivers good value for the price?

Are you happy with Paylocity's feature set?

Yes

Did Paylocity live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Paylocity go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Paylocity again?

Yes

We initially had no intention of leaving our previous payroll provider, ADP. However when we started our 401k program ADP didn't integrate with them and made it difficult to keep ADP as it was going to create a lot if issues. Paylocity was able to fully integrate with our 401k provider, John Hancock. Paylocity had a whole department dedicated to the integration, they walked us through every step of the process with dedicated reps at every step of the process.

Using Paylocity

21 - The owners and office manager use Paylocity to submit payroll, approve 401k items and keep track of paid time off. The rest of the staff uses Paylocity to submit PTO, print tax information and view their pay vouchers.
2 - One of the owners and the office manager use Paylocity to submit payroll every 2 weeks and approve PTO. Paylocity did a great job training us to use it and previous to rollout we had a dedicated person doing test runs with us.
  • payroll
  • 401k integration
  • time tracking
  • Integrate it with our 401k provider which is a 3rd party.
  • I found out about recognition tools, so we are going to look into that
  • Integrating our benefits and employee handbook into Paylocity.
I give a rating of 10 because the transition was flawless, at each step of the way we had a dedicated Paylocity rep helping us during the transition. This gave us peace of mind as we switched over from another payroll provider so we weren't familiar with Paylocity. The transition was smooth.

Evaluating Paylocity and Competitors

Yes - We previously had ADP Run, we never had issues with it but every time we called their customer service number we would get transferred constantly to get an answer. Another issue was that ADP didn't integrate with our 401k company John Hancock. This was a big issue as we would have to write manual checks for team member contributions. Paylocity is able to integrate with John Hancock to make it easy for team members to make contributions from their apps.
  • Integration with Other Systems
The integration with 401k retirement company John Hancock was the main selling point for the switch over to Paylocity. We wanted to make the 401k program as easy as possible for our staff. Paylocity was able to do this as both integrate to allow team members to chose contribution amounts and percentages easy.
If we had to do it again we would choose Paylocity again as our previous payroll provider didn't give us that option. We were recommended Paylocity and as soon as we reached out Paylocity and a rep working with us at every part of the process. This made the selection process easy.

Paylocity Support

In my opinion, compared to our previous payroll company Paylocity is far better this is why I give a rating of a 10. First of all we call our assigned account manager to answer questions, with our previous payroll company we called and would have to figure out which option to press to get to the right department. Often we would get transferred again so we would happy to repeat our request. In my experience with Paylocity, our account manager takes care of our needs, then if they can't answer the question they take ownership of the question and find the answer for us.
ProsCons

When we first integrated we had to have the pto balances transferred over from ADP for our staff. There was an issue with some balances not matching up to the actual balances. When I called the Paylocity rep took ownership, corrected the discrepancies and explained to me what happened and how I can fix the issue from the portal. I was very satisfied.

Using Paylocity

Overall, in my experience, Paylocity has been easy to use for both staff and administrators. First, the staff has an application and inputting Paid Time Off is easy to do. I then get an alert on my app and I am able to approve it on the spot from my app that gives me access as an employee and an administrator without having to use multiple apps or logins. As an administrator I think the portal is easy to use, Paylocity did a great job showing me tools and rolling out training classes before rollout.
ProsCons
Like to use
Relatively simple
Easy to use
Technical support not required
Well integrated
Consistent
Quick to learn
Convenient
Feel confident using
Lots to learn
  • Processing Payroll
  • Tracking PTO
  • Loading Team Members onto Paylocity
  • In my opinion, reports are sometimes hard to get to
Yes - I think the mobile apps for both administrators and staff has been fantastic. To start, as an administrator I don't need two different apps. I can be both an administrator and user all in the same app. Meaning I can approve items for staff like PTO in the app and at the same time access my own pay voucher, PTO and other items as an employee.
