Conductor is very well suited for keyword research as it has a connection to SEM Rush. They also display content opportunites in a very easy to read way. For example, our content writers, who are not SEO experts, are able to go into Conductor, type in websites or terms that they think they would like to write an article about. The platform provide easy to read and understand contnet recommendaitons like what could be written to answer a People Also Ask question.

The Hootsuite free version is great for small businesses that do not need extremely detailed tracking. It can easily publish content across multiple social media formats. I have not had any issues in content failing to publish because of software error. The at-a-glance analytics provides a lot of information when targeted a specific age range or the time when subscribers are online. It has worked well for my private business.

  • Professional services teams that are on top of their tech skills and can apply that to help us problem solve technical and strategic problems. For example, URL inventories and SEO evaluations per page for large and cumbersome websites.
  • Searchlight lets me understand how my products and services compare to competitors (some I know and some that aren't even on my radar) so I can make decisions about to make sure my content shows up where I think it should.
  • Conversely, it also shows me where my content shows up that I didn't expect or plan for. Sometimes this a great learning for business users that drives new content or concepts to build on success.
  • While monitoring the health of my website is not a key function of the platform, it does give me just enough clues (like broken links or poor page performance) to ask questions about development etc.
  • Conductor has been excellent partners in training a wide range of business users and providing proof of strategic value of the platform's performance and impact.

  • When it works, the ability to write ONE post and apply it to multiple platforms is great. Huge timesaver, and ensures consistency of content across your platforms.
  • The customizability of streams is a cool feature. You can really dial in a dashboard that fits your unique needs, instead of trying to adapt yourself to a default vanilla setup. Whichever content streams (both existing and scheduled) are important to you can be placed front and center and edited as needed.

  • Site Analysis. Conductor Searchlight uses DeepCrawl for its site analysis. While this is a powerful tool that helps me know everything wrong with my website like - no titles, short descriptions, no Alt tags, etc - the amount of information can be overwhelming. Initially, I had thousands of errors I was trying to fix using DeepCrawl - it was difficult to know what I had corrected and what still needed to be corrected without doing another crawl. It would be helpful if there was a way to check off things that had been fixed as I was working through the list.
  • Conductor does a great job training. First, they introduced me to Searchlight and walked me through everything, and helped me create workspaces and set up reports. Then we moved on to the site analysis with DeepCrawl. Because I had so much work to do from the site analysis it was a while before I got back into Searchlight. I had forgotten much of the training by that point. But the team is helping me get back into the flow of things again. They are great like that!

  • I personally don't like the way Hootsuite displays multiple social channels on the interface. It's very utilitarian and it does have a modern look, but there's just something about the multiple column look that really bugs me. It feels a bit dated and cluttered.
  • I've used both the free and the pro versions before. Pro is somewhat overpriced for the value that it provides and the free version limits you to too few social profiles which puts you in a position to either overpay or go to another option like Buffer which is cheaper but isn't as reliable. I'd say somewhere around $12-15/mo. would make the single-user Pro tier more palatable.

As the social media landscape and monitoring/scheduling software changes, so do our needs. We re-evaluate our tools semi-annually or as new tools emerge onto the market. If we find at any point that we aren't gaining an advantage, then we are open to switching products.

Searchlight is incredibly user-friendly and easy to use. Coming from someone who doesn't have much time in my day to be learning new systems, Conductor is very usable. The InsightStream helps me get a quick look at how we're doing and any major events that have an effect on our web performance. I usually log in first thing every morning just to do a temperature check to see how we're doing. As far as workspaces, this is the main function I use and I love them! They update within the workspace so each week and I get automated reports.

The layout of horizontal columns for each stream or search is a very cumbersome way to display information. There isn't an easy way to sort, filter, or otherwise re-organize the streams to limit the current view to relevancy. This is one of the primary reasons why we plan to move to another platform.

Gliches have made it a bit of a bind, particularly when you just want to 'click and send' a web article after you have read it - and then you have to deal with support (a great team but not always able to solve the problems with the gliches). Gliches with it loading properly, gliches with 'double ups in FB on the posts (the personal page and the business page if both clicked will lead to 2 lots of postings to each page!)

We have an absolutely fantastic account team. They are always ready to step in and help us pull information or help us figure something out. The two year-end recap meetings I've been in with our account team have always provided me with some new piece of knowledge that I didn't have previously. I think we're lucky here to have a superuser of the platform owning our relationship with the Conductor team, but there is always a way to make the information from the platform understandable to all different levels of SEO knowledge

I definitely recommend their professional services for getting started. It got our account 90% of the way to where we needed to be in order to gain value from it. In fact, I'd suggest that with few exceptions (such as, you have a staff that is already familiar with the platform and doesn't need any help), the quick start services over the first 30-90 days should be a standard part of onboarding with any new client. It definitely got us to the point of gaining ROI from the solution and, in turn, will make it easier to justify renewal and continued investment in it.

One person of the organization must take the time to understand the product throughly. Next that person should work with the Hootsuite team to maximize the architecture of your platform and mitigate any problems that may crop up. Also, if a team members voices a concern or is having a problem roll your sleeves up and help them if not it can kill support for the product and end any chances of a renewal. Lastly, set aside enough time to allow for training and refresher training. Solve all problems ambiguity can not be permitted

Of all the platforms we evaluated, Conductor stood out head-and-shoulders above the rest. Their product catalog provides exactly what we need (and more), and their customer support team is second to none. I've worked with Conductor Searchlight in two previous roles as well (the first by discovery, the second by my own recommendation); both organizations saw a dramatic increase in online properties' presence from an SEO approach; organic traffic increased substantially, along with gaining a plethora of insights that were an absolute necessity.
