Overall, I think we selected and have stayed with DICE because it has a strong concentration of IT specific resources. They also seem to have a good number of candidates who are looking for independent consulting work which best aligns with our current business model. But I …
Chose Dice TalentSearch
The decision to go with Dice wasn't up to me, it was up to technology leaders and decision makers above me. The decision to go with it originally was the belief that it was more robust than it really was and was a true competitor to the likes of Linkedin. It seems a bit …

Chose LinkedIn Jobs
ZipRecruiter and Dice are better at finding "HOT" candidates where they are actively looking for a new position whereas Linkedin is more of a "catch all" method. There can be more "solicitation" regarding Linkedin, however it provides the advantage of being a great source of a …

Dice
DICE Open Web works well when you want to find IT specific candidates that are available in your local area. What I particularly like is that if you post a job, Dice Open Web/Talent Search will return potential candidates that meet your requirements. It is a proactive way they provide candidates from what you could do manually using their IntelliSearch tool to find candidates. I find that DICE is overall much more effective when you have a job to post and the candidates apply rather than doing a blind search. There are too many factors that make candidates returned by DICE Open Web not necessarily interested in your position. When candidates apply they have shown interest and then you can apply the Screener tool to help narrow the pool.

I can't think of any reason why anybody looking for a job opportunity would not be involved with LinkedIn Jobs. It's one of the more active social media job sites and if you are active on LinkedIn (which you should be) you have a great opportunity to show your achievements and talent to job posters. The "Easy Apply" link, although great for companies hiring large groups of people may not be for somebody who is looking for a specialized role as that would take a more personal approach.

Pros
Dice
  • easy to use - web interface is very user friendly
  • easy to customize email templates
  • easy to set notifications and alerts for applicants or for job listings by other teams
  • easy to find same type of jobs across teams in one place
  • ability to turn off when you're no more looking for a job

  • The job offers board is one of the things that stands out most positively on LinkedIn Jobs, since I can know all the job offers that are open for all sectors of my company and I can also see the candidates that are in each offer of employment.
  • Interview scheduling is one of the best features of LinkedIn Jobs. It allows you to schedule exact time and exact day for face-to-face meetings in order to carry out a more consolidated interview, in addition, it sends notifications to the candidate so that they can appear for the interview at the right time.
  • I can have access to the CV of each candidate. LinkedIn Jobs offers me a very detailed CV of each of the candidates and this allows me to quickly know the qualities that each candidate has.
  • I can handle job applications much better. It was a very tedious job when we did this manually and we did a lot of paperwork to organize the received requests. LinkedIn Jobs has made that manual work is avoided, thanks to the automated system to organize the requests.

Cons
Dice
  • Dice Open Web seemed to not be able to keep up with other platforms and some features and functionality were either missing or quickly became obsolete.
  • It doesn't really seem to remain competitive on the landscape and feel behind in product release and feature updates.
  • Some information was outdated and didn't get regularly refreshed or updated it seemed. Just kind of churning the same information as before or the lack of reach was evident over time.

  • We have found to get the reach that we want, LinkedIn Jobs has been an expensive endeavor. The free postings do not get very far on LinkedIn Jobs.
  • For Large scale hired, LinkedIn Jobs is not beneficial at all. It does not do a good job at keeping a large influx of candidates coming through.
  • Some of the candidates end up being in other locations and therefore some have been unwilling to relocate or to fulfill job descriptions. In some ways, the wide reach works to a disadvantage when reaching candidates that do not even realize where the position is located. LinkedIn Jobs needs to do a better job with location based searches.

I'm assuming we will keep using DICE, but Indeed and LinkedIn are starting to prove their value and strength in having candidates/consultants use their services to look for new opportunities.

Asking price really versus quality. Not a bad thing, but budget can be a problem.

Because of the misinformation on job location, I give a low rating and this is the reason for my entire review.

Support Rating
Dice
Dice provides ease of sourcing candidates and is the most useful in staffing industry. However, we still recommend the team to provide older version access to the user which was much easier and flexible to use. Dice posting is the best feature in Dice. The Boolean Search feature in Dice is also very useful.

Support isn't that great. Just average I'd say. A lot of the time when things go wrong, there is nothing the support person can do. It's just the way they are set up and it takes them usually 24 hours to respond to a ticket which to me is far too long, but they are overall just okay.

Dice
I received multiple candidates only after hours of posting my jobs on other sites. And for a fraction of the cost! I not only received quality candidates but also candidates who actually matched my requirements. These sites also have the option for proactive outreach and pay-by-click options as well. Some also provide free trials, which Dice does not.

LinkedIn has better integration with its existing social media platform, allowing for the recruiter to accurately view a client's history. Furthermore, it shows reviews and work done by the potential recruit. In contrast, ZipRecruiter does not show as much insight into a client which can lead to time wasted with phone calls and other communication.

Dice
  • It’s a great portal to use and has many useful features which helps us to search relevant profiles as per client's need.
  • Dice really helped us to improve our business as we have closed many candidates through Dice.
  • I feel Dice should improve their new search, as it's not highlighting most of the keywords.

LinkedIn
  • Able to reach and tap a more diverse talent pool directly
  • Makes it easy for candidates to apply with just one click rather than filling long forms which is a big deterrent for passive job seekers
  • Makes the hiring process more efficient as candidates not matching the pre defined criteria get rejected automatically
