GreenRope

There's no such thing as a CRM that doesn't have its complications and headaches. I have tried a lot of them and ultimately like GreenRope heads and shoulders above the rest. GreenRope is particularly suited for small to medium sized businesses who do not have the budget or need for a SalesForce install, or the engineers necessary to make other CRM software work. If you want a more sophisticated system than an email responder like MailChimp or Constant Contact, you need to have a CRM. So ask yourself what you are looking to automate in your business and then go for a solution that has the ability to scale with you. A CRM is a commitment to long term growth and automation, and you should see it as an investment -- both in cash and in time. I don't have a programmer and have managed to get a lot of functionality out of GreenRope (all DIY). And I'm always adding to it with no limits in sight.

Pros

  • GreenRope is an affordable alternative to Infusionsoft, which I used to use, with more functionality.
  • GreenRope is feature rich. I was able to completely replace several pieces of software. Not only is that more cost-effective, it is hugely efficient. I'm in GreenRope all day long and have built many of my sales systems around it.
  • GreenRope is easier to use than other CRM software so I have had less fights with my staff to get them to adopt it than with past software.
  • GreenRope's customer support is absolutely top-notch. They are responsive and genuinely helpful.
  • GreenRope is constantly coming up with improvements. I love that they are innovating, improving and integrating with partners on a regular basis, as it solves my problems.

Cons

  • I have only one real area of frustration with GreenRope: their forms code. I use WordPress for my website and do not want to use GreenRope's hosted website templates because my site is big. But when I drop their forms HTML into my website, they don't tend to look very good and they require a skilled coder to fix by hand as they don't play nicely with my CSS. So I use a plugin to skin the forms, which took some finagling before I got it to stop throwing errors. Similarly, I have trouble trying to integrate it with my lead pages software (ClickFunnels) -- and the comment from ClickFunnels' engineer was, "that's not a form, it's more like an entire website!" That's a bit of an exaggeration, but I wish they would give you HTML that doesn't include styling.
  • I don't like GreenRope's scheduler and events app. I wish they would integrate with a scheduler software (I use Acuity) and an events software (like Event Brite) instead. It's not a big deal however.
  • GreenRope has made the decision to not allow you to send attachments through their email service for security reasons. I understand, but I wish I had that option.

It does everything I need when I'm at my computer. I would just like to have greater functionality in the iphone app. I have discussed with Greenrope my issues and they appear to be working on these issues

Right from the beginning, GreenRope's staff have been extremely helpful with getting us setup and answering all of our questions. In addition to chat support, the documentation provided within GreenRope itself is detailed and easily accessible. GreenRope is also really good about letting you know that they are available - and how to contact them. My questions/requests are answered quickly, every time.

I think there are some cheat sheets and best practises lists that could be created that would save a business a lot of time and frustration. BUT, even as it is, the frustrations and challenges disappear as things start working. I am going to be offering up a few of the tricks I have learned to the team at GreenRope to share with other users because when customers offer valuable work arounds that they find helpful to others, we accomplish a few things. The coders get an idea of things that aren't working quite as expected so they can look into fixes, other customers get benefit and we all win

Alternatives Considered

At the time I selected GreenRope for our business, Hatchbuck wasn't an option but Infusionsoft and HubSpot were. Since then, I have included Hatchbuck in my analyses for customers who are selecting new CRM/Marketing Automation software. Greenrope has all the functionality that Infusionsoft has. Sure, there are minor differences where each offers some things the other doesn't, but those things are in the "what else does it do" category for each software. The big deliverables in the two software are the same. For me, it mattered that Greenrope did not require the upfront fees that Infusionsoft requires. Some organizations may need all the upfront support that's delivered in the Infusionsoft setup, but for those who can do their own data imports and setups, Infusionsoft didn't offer the "out" from that up-front cost. Greenrope was fast and easy to get into, there was extra support available for companies that needed to buy some hours, but you didn't have to spend that money if you didn't need it. Infusionsoft's GUI is 'sexier' than Greenrope's, but Greenrope keeps making improvements to the GUI, and I find it very easy to navigate and use. I also often train new employees or client employees how to use Greenrope. I find it very easy to teach and new users get up to speed quickly.

Return on Investment

  • It's a positive ROI for two reasons. One it lets me sort leads to clients and two it is a more affordable option than the Salesforce Infusionsoft like competitors.
