Likelihood to Recommend Symantec Endpoint Security is a well-rounded product that provides a significant amount of functionality and covers many of our endpoint needs without needing to resort to multiple vendors that might clash in unpredictable ways when ultimately deployed to the endpoints in our estate. The default policies are adequate and tuning these requires some time as with all similar EDR products but the product is flexible enough to allow very granular whitelisting/blacklisting which is great. Low resource requirements are also fantastic and we've not had many complaints from developers who were getting slowed down when compiling complex code with other previous solutions.

I have already recommended Zix to a number of our coworkers in the home healthcare industry, and a number of those coworkers also use Zix, which makes it quite simple to connect with one another. Because it pertains to health care, which is an industry in which it is vital to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity, we also utilize it within our own organization to communicate with one another.
Read full review Pros The virus and spyware protection has worked well for us, catching several things and quarantining the items or cleaning them. The virus definitions very rarely fail to update for the users, so I feel confident that my client machines are kept up to date. I like the report I get daily telling me about threats found and action taken without having to login to the console to look it up myself. Read full review Webroot, an OpenText company
Makes it easy for those receiving emails to create an account and retrieve the email. Peace of mind knowing emails are secure, and can be tracked. Monitoring inbound email threats is easy. Support has been very quick resolving or explaining support tickets I've created. Read full review Cons The system should have a better ability to auto repair, if an item is malfunctioning it should auto reinstall. The cloud platform and the server do not talk well to each other and it would be great to get the same data on both platforms, this may be due to version though. It seems the whitelisting on the cloud platform could use some work. Read full review Webroot, an OpenText company
Ease of use. Other competitors platform is WAY easier to use and customize. You have to cover THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION with coverage, even though only a handful will need to use email encryption The Zix Protect platform is a complete joke to customize and use. It did delivers exactly what is needed, what was promised, is cost effective, and is incredibly easy to use and manage.
Read full review Usability I think it works great. It's easy to administer. It's easy to see if it's working and how well. There's no real user interaction necessary.

It is much simpler to configure and operate in comparison to other anti-spam applications. Zix's customer usage is comparable to that of other spam filters on the market; but, in terms of convenience of use, Zix comes out on top. Daily delivery of logs is provided, and the user is not required to sign in order for an email to be sent.

The dashboard is easy to read, and you can easily figure out where to go to troubleshoot or deploy software. Symantec is there for emergencies like backup restoration or file retrieval. It's pretty low maintenance. Symantec is there when your IT infrastructure needs it

Support Rating Support is completely awful! You can never get anyone to help if you can even find a number to call. The support web portal is a joke and their response time if you're even able to submit a ticket is ridiculously slow.

Zix is very good about response times and information. They even proactively e-mail us about known issues. I have never had an issue go unresolved, and the support team tends to answer quickly unless it's a strange, complicated request. The only time that happened was doing a search through logs, and that was entirely on me and my unfamiliarity with their flavor of Linux.

Alternatives Considered Symantec Endpoint Security offers very similar features to the above products, they all do the same thing in terms of protecting your endpoints against cybersecurity threats. Installation wise the products all install from a central management system and report back to this for central reporting. Ultimately we choose Symantec as the reseller was able to offer additional incentives which made their pricing very competitive.

Cost is competitive, but factoring in Office licensing really made sense for my organization. Cost is lower for more features - I was able to move to Zix and get the top of the line package, moving from a mid-tier product at a competitor. Workflows and process have improved, and the filter is more accurate than our previous filter

Recommended Zix as secure email resource to the salesforce and seems to have been nicely adopted. Peace of mind that some emails are hopefully getting encrypted and that we are more secure than we were before...sometimes. Again, there should be some indication to the sender that their information was sent securely. Even if it is a pop up or something. Read full review ScreenShots
