ManageEngine Endpoint Central is used by us to centralise patch management and remote support for the organisation. It also helps us clarify asset management and gives us another place where we can cross check assets. We also use the software to push out applications to the endpoints so that the helpdesk can quickly remotely install an application from the server. ManageEngine Endpoint Central is on a locally hosted virtual machine and is protected by a DMZ secure server that handles all traffic to and from the on-premise machine. We aim to go into the cloud next year as this will simplify our approach.
  • Patch Management
  • Remote Support assistance
  • Application rollout
  • Reporting is not perfect but just adequate
  • Remote tools are OK but are overshadowed by Microsoft Powertoys
  • Little use of AI in the product which is disappointing in todays age
ManageEngine Endpoint Central is fantastic for a set and forget patching tool. This is great for the Windows clients that we have and provides good reporting and ensures machines are kept up to date and gives us good reporting on which machines are vulnerable in our organisation. Linux machines are not as well handled due to the multiple flavours of Linux that are out there. ManageEngine Endpoint Central only manages specific versions of Mac and Linux so it is best to check compatability ahead of time.
  • Our security posture is easy to see and act upon as you have a single place to look at all machines vulnerabilities. This helps us when it comes to security audits as we are able to demonstrate the value of the application.
  • Remote support is inbuilt and easy to use as you can just hop onto any agented machine and control it directly without asking for codes or getting people to visit a specific website.
  • We were able to mass install various applications to client machines over the years and the time and cost saved by not having to visit remote machines in different countries has proved invaluable.
We chose ManageEngine Endpoint Central primarily on cost and usability. The support from the account managers at ManageEngine Endpoint Central has also been fantastic. NinjaOne came out a lot more expensive and in terms of usability was not as well received by our Agents when we tested it out with them. I am not sure about the level of support from NinjaOne as we did not test this out in the evaluation.
The support is managed from India and the Agents handling the queries have been great for the most part. They have definitely had good product experience and can talk in depth about ManageEngine Endpoint Central.
We did not purchase premium support.

We utilise ManageEngine Endpoint Central to manage and secure approx. 2000 devices ranging from laptops, servers as well as more than 1000 mobile devices with the MDM add-on. Our people are spread all over the country, hence a tool that can manage (and secure) all of these devices in much detail was needed and this product has helped us significantly in achieving this.
  • Securing mobile devices
  • Monitoring and securing our various servers
  • Managing people using these devices
  • Protecting our network, company and client data
  • More granular access level controls for technicians (restrictions for juniors) on the Mobile Device Management add-on
  • Monitoring mobile data usage on mobile devices, this has been in the product pipeline for 5 years, but not yet implemented
  • Ability to remotely support company-owned mobile devices with no end-user permission. End-user needs to allow the remote session, when sometimes that's what we don't want since we're doing an investigation.
Years ago I investigated several similar systems, initially I did not consider ManageEngine since the pricing was too cheap to be a good product, until we did a trial. Wow, we were surprised. The functionality exceeded other paid-for applications, especially on the mobile side where most of our users are. It's worth noting we bought the on-prem version, but have never regretted it from a per user per month cost of almost all the other products available since we've grown from 300 users to close to 2000 now. If you want to properly manage your endpoints, albeit servers, PCs or mobile devices, all the functionality is there and when support was needed, the guys from India have always been very quick to respond and solve the issue. Even customizations we required were done at zero cost just to accommodate us.
  • Patch management
  • Automated configuration of settings (thousands of templates built into the system)
  • MDM: Complete control over all our company owned devices. Note, we don't allow BYOD, but the system caters for it as well
  • Integration into all the other ManageEngine products we've bought since Endpoint Central
  • We bought the on-prem version and the ROI cals we did, paid off in less than 2 years.
  • Our clients love that we are able to completely control our mobile devices. In South Africa, there's a lot of crime and we replace approx. 50+ mobile devices a month. We're able to completely wipe all data, block the device and should it somehow go online, it's next to impossible to remove the "This device has been stolen" message when you start up the device! Love it!
  • The complete automation with proper testing before deploying saves a lot of admin and time for the IT team. Our workstations stay secure. Although it's automated, it still goes through an automated test phase and you can decide if you want to include the approval stage or not. We still approve it, but have never had any issues at all.
The local distributor of the product is always available, however most support is received within an hour from India. We've had complex requirements and the support team went so far as to customize their mobile application to suit our unique needs. We honestly can't complain about any support we've received and it's always been very quick.
There's just one support option which is paid annually. No additional costs for "premium" support. The annual fee we pay for support covers all our requirements and all our support needs are attended to, regardless of which ManageEngine product we require support on. The online training library has also tremendously helped in up-skilling my IT staff and many issues are resolved internally through that.
Yes
We had some bugs in the past, but unique to very old versions of Android products which have long since been discontinued in other countries. The support team went so far as to create a custom APK file for these devices at zero cost to us, just to ensure we're able to still utilise the product fully.
I described it in the previous question.
