What is Omnisend?

Omnisend is an omnichannel marketing automation platform built for ecommerce. With email marketing at its core, it is designed to make creating beautiful email campaigns easier. Using Omnisend's automation, users can personalize messaging to customer data, campaign engagement, and shopping behavior.

Omnisend allows users to add several channels into the same automation workflow: email, SMS, push notifications, and more. Users can also sync segments to Google and Facebook retargeting ads to deliver an immersive customer experience. Omnisend is designed so that omnichannel marketing is not just possible, it's easy to perform.

Email marketing automation is all about sending anticipated, contextualized and relevant messages at the right time. Omnisend offers pre-built automation templates that users only need to set up, such as Welcome emails, Cart Abandonment emails, Order updates, Re-activation and Order Follow-up.

Drag-and-drop content editor allows users to design newsletters with no need to code, integrate or learn anything new. Included are email templates, Product Picker, interactive CTR boosters and Discount Coupons.

I use Omnisend to send marketing and advertising emails. I am also able to use it as a plug in on my website in order to get more emails and grow my list. It allows me to create automation for various aspects of my website. I’m able to see the open rates and click rates and allows me to see what emails worked and what didn’t. I can also keep track of my email list and get rid of bad or spam emails.

  • I do not like that I have to pay to do periodic email cleanups.

It is well suited for small to medium sized businesses. It is great for startups and for people just starting to create and grow their email list. It allows for some growth before charging for sending emails. It’s easy to make mistakes when starting out but also easy to fix them as customer service was very helpful in troubleshooting what seemed like issues. I’m not sure how well it would work for large corporations.

Omnisend has everything you think it needs for an ecommerce platform with WooCommerce. Unfortunately, their plugin cannot be copied to staging sites properly, you must deactivate it, delete it, reactivate it, and connect it to a free account to ensure that your URL won't get overwritten with a staging URL.

They think this is normal and have no need to fix it. This is a dealbreaker for us.

Their basic support is fine, but the technical support that takes 24-48 hours to reply to, can't help you with much. You can't even VIEW the emails that were sent to clients.

Bugs abound, like emails sending totals out that are actually subtotals.

We use Omnisend to send email blasts to our customer list. It is being used for our CBD brand and it helps us keep in touch, announce sales and drive traffic to our website.

Omnisend is user-friendly, similar to Mail Chimp for those starting out. It's easy to import contacts, segment them and build lists. The pre-built templates are aesthetically pleasing and easy to customize. For those with large customer lists and needing to make their email graphics a little more advanced, I would say Omnisend falls short.

Omnisend is currently used across the whole organization, and it is an excellent tool for emailing newsletters to our clients.

  • Omnisend permits unlimited contacts with free plan when most other providers have a limit unless you opt for a paid subscription.

Omnisend is an excellent resource for companies that want to opt-in and out of paid subscriptions as there is no limit on contacts with a free subscription. This permits you to have the contacts in the account and then opt into the paid subscription when mass mailings need to go out.

Soundest (now Omnisend) is used to automate emails and communications from our Shopify store. It is very easy to use and effective at setting up automated triggered emails for order follow-up, customer reactivation, reviews. I would consider it a must-have for anyone selling online.
  • Template/Email creation is easy.
  • Triggered email/automation setup is easy and effective.
  • Reporting is good.
  • Follow-up campaigns are easy and effective.
  • Initial setup wasn't firing right, support issue was handled pretty quickly and easily.
  • It does not go back and put previous orders/customers into the automation. It will only work with go-forward customers from the time you install the product. (At least that's what the outcome of our support inquiry told us...).
  • Would like to see more sample templates and campaigns.
For email and form automation for Shopify, it is a must have product. If you are selling products online, Omnisend will make your life easier, but more importantly, you WILL get more return customers and repeat business by using this product.

We're a pretty small outfit--pretty much just me and my partner. I've taken on the marketing duties and we've had great successes in many areas. But email marketing was always a tough one because there are so many apps out there and it's difficult figuring out which one is the best. Anyways, after trying MailChimp and Klaviyo (too unfriendly and too expensive), we found Omnisend, and it's been great ever since. Such easy setup and we created our newsletter quickly. I think maybe 5 or 10 mins. Now we're using it regularly. We pretty much fell in love with their pre-filled popups and their automation is great and getting better and better each day. It takes a little bit of work to set up the automation workflows the first time, but afterwards you don't have to worry about it anymore. It's currently being used by both of us now, but I take the brunt of the creation and my partner checks the numbers from time to time. It's really great and I'd wholeheartedly recommend it!
  • Newsletter campaigns - the content editor is the usual one you see on email marketing apps, but it works so smoothly and well. Of course, there's Product Picker that allows you to just pick a product from your store and it goes straight into your newsletter--no need to add images or descriptions. Really easy.
  • Popups are great because they look amazing right out of the box. It's all pre-filled so if you don't like looking at a blank screen, you can just adapt the wording and it's there. voila!
  • Automation really is nice and it's the bulk of what we're doing now. It's like second level ecommerce marketing I guess, because you really see after some time how having automated steps can really save you time and make you a lot more money. Omnisend's automations are really good and intuitive and was really easy to learn and implement.
  • They've recently updated their Segmentation features and at first I was confused by it, but now I see where the misunderstanding came from. I think that when I found what I was looking for, I saw it was actually better than I wanted. So I guess one con for me was just a little lack of clear communication or explanation on their part.
It's kind of an automation workflow, but for example you can set up a popup to appear at a specific time on a specific product page and offer the visitor something. The visitor then signs up and then (after you've set up your automation sequence) that visitor gets a specific welcome page based on the popup they signed up through, and then a specific order confirmation email and everything else flows from that specific popup. That's great because it's allowed us to sort of fine-tune our offerings to get our visitors' emails in the first place and offer, for example, someone browsing a product page for 3 minutes something different than someone staying 20 seconds on the homepage and then leaving.
