Great for a lot of Use Cases
We wish we would have selected Power BI as our solution. The main reason for that is that in order to view a visualization in Qlik Sense you need a license. With Power BI that is not required.

My Qlik Sense Review
Basically, its a very useful tool for every enterprise to have. However, implementation of BPI in companies might be easier in my opinion as most companies are using Microsoft Office and since PBI is part of its ecosystem, employees are more willing to accept. Building dashboard in my opinion is harder as compared to PBI. We have just started using PBI and we are still using Qlik. But more users are able to quickly learn and customize dashboards in PBI.

QlikSense Desktop for purchasers
We selected QS Desktop since it's free, whereas Tableau would need much more time to set up and its cost is much too high. We can do simple things in QS that would take a much longer time in Tableau, but if we want to make a more professional analysis then we would use Tableau.

Qlik Sense review after few years of use.
We looked at SiSense and Tableau, SiSense came very close to final purchase and looked to be a appropriate replacement of Qlik Sense. Tableau seemed to lack some of the Qlik Sense features, this analysis was done back in 2017.

Data democratization doesn't have to be scary. With Qlik, you might even say it's fun!
While the same can be said for many of the other tools we evaluated, Qlik's robust community and free training programs were a major benefit to driving the democratization of data at our company. Qlik also offered local in person events (pre-COVID) that provided free training workshops that were very close to our corporate HQ. Ultimately the combination of ability to work with multiple data sources, ease of use, and local training created a sweet spot for us.

Great with large, messy data
Qlik Sense showed the best ability to work with large, messy datasets. It also demonstrated the best ability to handle very large datasets. (Tableau is known to crash/struggle with datasets of our size.)

My experience with Power BI is much more limited than Qlik. But I have found Qlik to be a more robust program that fits our specific needs when it comes to integrating with our ERP and having a real-time view of our sales and operations data. However, PowerBI might be more user-friendly to beginning BI users.

I like it
We selected Qlik Sense when other public-facing tools were either prohibitively expensive for our uses (BusinessObjects) or still not quite mature (Power BI). Now we're in the maintenance contract it's cost-effective for us to remain. Qlik feels like an excellent interactive analysis platform, and is less strong at flat report outputs, though this has improved.
Qlik was a way to combine data retrieval and presentation in one place. The majority of other solutions we evaluated required one part to retrieve data, or multiple parts to retrieve the data from various sources, then something else to prepare visualisations or reports. Qlik is very slick at combining all of this once the data is being compiled correctly.
I was not involved in the selection process.

Since we were existing users of QlikView and developed intricate data models over the years, we decided to use what we have in place rather than go through the effort of creating similar data lakes in SQL.

Confusing product for a nonprofit that needs dedicated technical expertise to fully utilize
Tableau is too expensive. Microsoft BI is what we might switch to in terms of our department's skill set, available (free) training resources through forums and youtube, and pricepoint for a nonprofit.
