I enjoy reading reviews from other users to see whether they see the same strengths and weaknesses in products I am using. Sometimes I gain new information on a feature I didn't even know existed! Since I work for a medical IT company, I also liked being able to see what users said about our products as well as those of our competitors.

As someone who has reviewed technology solutions myself on TrustRadius, I know the value of the TrustRadius approach to user reviews. The structure of the guided questions helps draw out my opinion of the product being reviewed in a way that I may not be able to myself if just providing an open narrative without prompts. When it was time to rely on TrustRadius as a buyer, I knew I could trust most reviews I found here - the backbone of TrustRadius is solid and dependable.

To accomplish my goal, I began with a Google query of cloud-based databases. Once I had developed a list of available databases, I turned to TrustRadius to gather insight into which databases were easiest to implement and manage at the lowest cost.

TrustRadius had reviews for the top three databases in which I was interested and I was able to use those reviews to determine the best next step.

I checked many reviews from different users and different antivirus products. It allowed me to compare, to know what were the problems or weaknesses of each software and what were the virtues and potentialities. In most cases, I found opinions based on the user's experience, which I find very reliable.

Yes, it’s always a plus to know what current users are saying about products, what features are great and what could be improved upon, as well as how they feel about the service they are receiving. TrustRadius for Buyers has all of that.

My company liked going back in and seeing an organized list of questions and the answers that followed the questions. Questions that we looked to specifically were "what did you like about the product?" and "What didn't you like about the product?" After reviewing 3-5 responses we were able to get the general idea for both positive and negative attributes.

By reading through the reviews left by other consumers I was able to easily validate what the account representative was pitching to us for their product. I had already been partially swayed after our initial demonstration and sales call, but reading through content left by other users helped seal the deal for me. The relevance of those messages was key to ensure the company was still delivering on promises they were also making to us.

I went to products that I already knew the names of because I had either worked with them personally or knew a colleague that had worked with the tool. Once I found those products, I looked through the reviews looking for patterns of comments relating to my personal experience or my personal needs. Most of those comments fell in line with what I to expected to find, which was very confirming to my opinions.

I already knew these tools, but in the end it was important to understand what other users are doing with them and to see if there are any reported issues. Reading different reviews enabled a better understanding of the products. Finally, a check of reviews helped me make decision. Both products were purchased and they are used frequently if not daily. I even left some reviews related to them with the hope that they will help other visitors.

In this fast-moving world, some companies are able to innovate their product lines at a very fast pace. Catching these advancements through analyst reports (i.e. Forrester or Gartner) takes a bit of time due to their publishing schedule. The other problem with such reports is analysts' distance to the actual implementation. Sometimes people that are interviewed for such studies are too far from implementation details. So while such reports hit the mark at the higher level (i.e. strategy, positioning, average costs and vendor reputation), many times they miss the micro level details that determine the true mileage with the product. That's where unbiased reviews bring a lot of value. It's the timeliness and the level of directness about the actual implementation that's hard to get anywhere else. Some product issues may only resurface at some companies due to differences in their level of maturity. I always look for useful validations and clues that allow me to target my research. Let's face it - we all have a limited amount of time and knowledge, and there is always someone out there doing things differently and potentially better than us.

Many factors on TrustRadius assisted me in this process. Ultimately the overall rating was a key data point, as well as individual reviews from relevant industry users. Being able to find people in my industry who had recently (within the last 6-12 months) used the product and provided feedback was extremely valuable to me during this exercise. Also being able to compare side by side to other competitive software solutions was extremely valuable.

I searched using various key words, and also looked at the available comparable software for the ones that I found.

It's particularly helpful to be able to review quick 'Pros + Cons' from other users who have already experienced the tool. We also appreciate having access to a side-by-side comparison of two possible solutions alongside each other, particularly comparisons listing their features, pricing plans, and other pertinent data. Knowing that a larger amount of reviews for a solution will most likely be more trustworthy, we also focused on making sure the products we looked at had a wide range of user reviews.

The search by software categories was very helpful and looking at pros and cons about the software by different job titles was very helpful because as the system administrator myself, I needed to know what challenges they were dealing with and what features they really liked. I can quickly sort by the ratings and choose the review by looking at their job titles.
