Overall Satisfaction with Amazon Web Services
We migrated our transaction processing system from our own hardware in a data center to the AWS cloud. In addition, we migrated our accounting server as well. So our whole organization is now using it. We also migrated our Oracle database server to Amazon RDS and the performance increase was a nice surprise.
- The ability to scale instances to optimized cost and performance.
- Monitoring hardware issues and automatically migrating instances to new hardware when necessary.
- Cloudwatch alerting allows monitoring of systems 24/7.
- There are a lot of great services that are only available in the US zone and we would like to use them in Canada.
- Our main reason for migration was better redundancy, building this ourselves was cost prohibitive.
- We are able to accomplish more with our system using existing staff by using the AWS tools that are available.
