Overall Satisfaction with Avalara

Across the organization, we are a SaaS based product and we find issues with having to do additional research as to what taxes we are exempt from. We also find difficulty with returns and auditing between our returns and what is owed to the states.

Pros

  • Easy to file returns.
  • Great customer service from account managers.
  • Good tax information on each state.

Cons

  • Assistance with audit between returns and what is owed.
  • SaaS product information on Exemptions build within the platform.
  • Update on your how to do steps for users. Many are out of date, when attempting to use.
  • We have had to spend time researching if we are exempt for Nexus.
  • We have spent time to call state and research ourselves, on variances between returns and payments.
  • It is easy once the state is set up to process returns, so we save time there.
  • We have integrated NetSuite.
It is easy to use, and self explanatory with helpful guides. Some guides need updated after the system has an update. Some of the step by steps are outdated and the buttons they say to click have different names or locations.
  • Avalara Returns
Yes we have benefited, since it is much simpler to file tax returns with NetSuite integrated.

I do like the platform, I do also feel there is room for improvement.
