Overall Satisfaction with Bigcommerce

I use Bigcommerce for an auto parts website of mine called Geared World.com.

We sell auto parts dealer direct and we use the Platinum Plan with Bigcommerce. We use Bigcommerce as a CMS system for our products that integrates with catalogs that we sell from. Bigcommerce is the engine behind our business as we have one million products to manage. Their Product .CSV upload times are extremely quick as compared to other off-the shelf E-Commerce providers out their on the web such as Shopify.

The biggest business problem that Bigcommerce solves for us is unlimited product storage and fast upload times.
  • Bigcommerce is amazing because of their advanced 301 Redirects feature that dramatically preserves your SEO. If you have a lot of products and prices that change very frequently, Bigcommerce's 301 Redirect feature is seamless as it automatically redirects your pages as you change any information on any of your pages. The search engines look for this, and if you do not do it correctly it will adversely affect your SEO.
  • Bigcommerce is also great because of their lightning fast .CSV upload rates for products that you upload onto the Bigcommerce server.
  • One thing that I also like about Bigcommerce, even though I did not like it at first, is that they do not offer custom coding or changes on your Bigcommerce store. Since I am in online marketing, and am not an HTML coder, I have sometimes made changes to my store that have really messed up the source code to my store causing a large amount of maintenance and coding. Bigcommerce understands this aspect so that you do not mess up the source coding to your website.
  • Bigcommerce needs to have a 24 hour support line. If you have an online business, it is working 24 hours. So should your support.
  • Bigcommerce should allow partners to automatically have a Bigcommerce Marketing account listed within their Experts marketplace.
  • I refer a lot of business to Bigcommerce at this point. Shopify gave me an Expert Marketing directory submission without referring anyone to them initially.
  • Bigcommerce makes you refer 10 stores before they allow you to reap any benefits. Bigcommerce expects for you to give them business, without giving you the ability to obtain business from their clients. This is an unbalanced trade. Anyone would make that deal if they were on the Bigcommerce side of things. This setup is one-sided, as it is a 10/1 ratio for Bigcommerce. I refer more clients to Shopify because this process is mutually beneficial for both parties.
  • Bigcommerce's designs suck. The look of almost all of the Bigcommerce themes are quite awful. Many of the Free themes have bugs in them. This is a big hassle when setting up new storefronts. Themes should be completely bug free if they are listed on the marketplace.
  • Bigcommerce has scalability. Your store can grow to be a power house with Bigcommerce over time as it grows.
  • Bigcommerce has larger data processing rates.
  • Bigcommerce has 301 Redirects that keep our website congruent with what the search engines are looking for.
Bigcommerce has faster .CSV upload rates.

Shopify has better 24 hour customer service, designs, customization, and app offerings for your store.
I give Bigcommerce this rating because of their .CSV upload rates and 301 Redirects functionality.
I would recommend Bigcommerce to larger clients. I would not recommend Bigcommerce to smaller clients due to data and storage requirements.
