Overall Satisfaction with Cloudflare

Cloudflare is used today to provide DDoS protection and TLS termination for various single-page applications. We use the system as a public-facing load balancer to protect our traffic and keep our site online - it automatically rejects connections from known attackers but also allows us to properly implement both TLS and other strong security headers without needing to run a dynamic server installation.
  • DNS Configuration
  • Free TLS Negotiation/Termination
  • Automated Captcha Protection to Prevent Attacks
  • More intuitive UI - It's sometimes hard to navigate
  • DNS Configuration

  • Basic accounts are free (no investment other than time) but yield high performance returns!
Cloudflare is a full DNS and load balancing system. AWS CloudFront handles load balancing and DDoS prevention, but on its own requires other services to handle DNS and various other features that are baked directly into Cloudflare. If you're hosting on AWS already, using the AWS stack (CloudFront) might be a better fit, but you can leverage Cloudflare as well with zero problems.

Yes

Are you happy with Cloudflare's feature set?

Yes

Did Cloudflare live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cloudflare go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cloudflare again?

Yes

Cloudflare is well suited for any environment. I've used it successfully to protect small, single-page applications and static websites. I've also used it to protect high-traffic, dynamic web applications as well. The only drawback is that when Cloudflare (rarely) goes offline, it takes down a significant portion of the Internet - having an alternative/backup solution is highly recommended.
