Overall Satisfaction with GoToWebinar

I moderate webinars for a large client with multiple GoToWebinar licenses supporting various departments and regions. We use GoToWebinar for sales, support, education, and marketing sessions, with anywhere from five people to 800 in attendance. GoToWebinar provides registration page/registration management tools, specific roles for presenters/organizers/attendees, widgets for surveys, polls and certificates, and back-end file management, attendee reporting, and analytics. All of those capabilities represent the "next level up" from a regular meeting tool and are necessary when using webinars as part of the sales and marketing funnel.
  • Registration page templates/page creation and attendee registration management--must have for event management
  • Data association--attendee information is paired with poll, question, and survey responses, assisting followup
  • The interest rating score is a good level set for how engaged your participants really were
  • Works across platforms and browsers
  • GoToWebinar becomes very glitchy when the presenter uses multiple monitors--something which most presenters need to do. It becomes very difficult to force the correct window to share, and even with notifications turned off, other desktop activities interfere with the screen share
  • Audio and video transmission also become glitchy when enough audience members join the session. While rated for 1,000 people, we experience "bandwidth" issues when attendee volumes exceed 400
  • Integrating translation tools has been difficult, which makes it difficult to present to more than one language group at a time
  • Presenters are often unable to see their own webcam feed, which is disconcerting for many
  • No digital backgrounds, which many presenters want to use
  • Presenters are unable to see the polls when they are presented to the audience and cannot see the results share unless they have "audience view" enabled
  • Other glitches come and go, making it difficult to depend on the tool's performance
  • No breakout rooms--limits the use beyond a one-and-done session
  • Basic service has allowed us to build a successful webinar program with a steady increase in participation and conversion
  • Attendees value the product demos, technical support, and best practices webinar series highly and value hearing about the next session, building credibility, and strengthening the relationship
  • The process is relatively straightforward, repeatable, and not hard to learn.
The tool mostly does what it says it will do--it does support our marketing strategy and it helps us deliver an important service to our current and prospective customers. For a stronger rating, we would require higher dependability.
For managing audiences up to 300 people in a straightforward register-present-record-report environment, GoToWebinar does a decent job. I would rate it higher if the glitch rate went down and it could handle usage of multiple monitors by presenters. It is less well suited for large audiences or situations requiring strong interaction and engagement or a non-linear flow or multi-lingual sessions.
