Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Virtual Servers
We are using IBM Virtual servers for several reasons:
- For quickly distributing environments between team members so they can develop and test our web portal iterations.
- We are using IBM Virtual machines specifically for development and DevOps purposes.
- By using IBM Virtual servers, we overcome many difficulties such as maintenance of physical hardware, we achieved scale-ability and our team easily works on our products remotely.
- IBM Cloud Virtual Servers are available in many regions around the world which is helpful in case we need a server near to our client.
- IBM Cloud Virtual Servers can be configured to use all sorts of operating systems which comes in handy to test applications across many environments.
- I would love to have more profiles for quick provisioning.
- IBM recently offered a discount for its Bare Metal Servers. You need to have the same service for the IBM Virtual Server.
- Initially, as with any other business, we invested and did not get any viable ROI, but with time, we felt that we started getting money back in terms of fewer electric bills and fewer IT staff to maintain servers and ease of mind.
- IBM Cloud Virtual Servers saved us roughly $50K in 2 years which we used to expand our marketing and get more business.
We never used transient pricing as shared plans best suited us. We tested transient servers though to run some tests but later on, we moved to shared and dedicated servers due to the nature of our business requirements. We also recommend using shared and dedicated to our peers because the pricing and availability are straight forward.
No, we did not use reserved servers.
- Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and Alibaba Cloud Elastic Compute Service (ECS)
I chose IBM over others because of many reasons but the top reason is that IBM provided the paid trial for one year to my business which is not even an option for any other provider. This helped us tested IBM thoroughly without spending a dime. Moreover, IBM is the pioneer of all things IT, we trusted IBM over others.
