Tough experience which undermined confidence in IBM Cloud Virtual Servers and ultimately pushed us to concentrate on using competitor services
Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Virtual Servers
My company made a decision to deploy a key part of our technology stack by making use of the IBM Cloud Virtual Servers. Our core requirement was to make use of two IBM Cloud Virtual Servers to host our functionality for social media and news collection and analysis. This functionality is offered as part our wider application and services a variety of commercial clients, to provide them with location specific and high relevance information concerning certain set subjects. We required the highest levels of availability and reliability from the IBM Virtual Cloud Servers.
Pros
- Explaining the nature of the service.
- Providing rapid access to the process of setting up the servers.
- Testing of initialisation of individual servers.
Cons
- Unfortunate absence of sufficient technical guidance to enable set up.
- Very limited live support to help with deployment issues.
- Negative impact, had to redesign our technical architecture.
- A significant amount of time and effort consumed from company resources.
- Delayed an implementation plan.
- The company will not use IBM Cloud Virtual Servers.
- Our perspective is that IBM Cloud Virtual Servers are technically more challenging to master in comparison to competitor offerings.
Transient pricing has had no impact as we were unable to successfully achieve a working implementation of IBM Cloud Virtual Servers.
We did not make use of this service to this scale.
We did not make use of this service.
We decided to make use of IBM Virtual Cloud Servers because we were offered IBM Credits and assistance for set up. Our experience was unfortunately negative and in particular, we feel that IBM Cloud Virtual Servers would benefit from having more personnel available to provide assistance for areas that are outside of core documented support. Our experience is that IBM competitors have greater availability of personnel and clearer supporting documentation, making the whole user experience more straightforward.
