Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

We currently use Marketo for all marketing automation. This includes email blasts, nurture campaigns, and landing pages creation. Marketo integrates well with SFDC especially when using the Marketo Sales Insight feature.
  • Marketo Sales Insight. Allows sales reps access to marketing created emails.
  • Program structure and program templates. Allows me to quickly duplicate programs that are used frequently (i.e. events). Using tokens, I barely have to update any assets.
  • Marketo needs to allow users to change email templates mid-build.
  • Marketo needs to completely overhaul the interface. The UI could be laid out much better. One example would be previewing assets without having to open them in a new tab.
  • Upsell
  • Cross-Sell
  • Prospecting / New Business
We mainly use Marketo to generate new product sales. Marketo helps by allowing us to set up multiple programs focused on different products. Engagement programs are one of the more powerful features. EPs allow us to have multiple streams within one program. Each stream has its own cadence of emails which can be super helpful if we are trying to nail down exactly what prospects are interested in. We just bounce them from one stream to the other based on their engagement.
HubSpot is a lot cleaner and faster. They are very open if there is an issue with the system (they will present you with a notification when you log in). The UI is much more intuitive and the learning curve is much less intense than marketo. HubSpot's support is much better than Marketo's.

Marketo has a little more power with it's programs/tokens/cloning. Again, it lacks a bit of speed that HubSpot has (it can be very slow at times). The integration with SFDC is a bit better with Marketo. The UI is dated, I believe a lot of the platform is in Flash which isn't super ideal.
Marketo is a great choice for marketing automation. It has a bit more of a learning curve than HubSpot, but makes up for it with its ability to clone programs (as mentioned below).
