Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft 365 Defender

Microsoft Defender is used to protect all endpoints. I use an admin version of Defender to monitor and address issues with over 50 other devices. As the only IT Guru for our company, it is important that I am able to efficiently use my time and available software. Every year, hackers, phishers, etc. are getting bolder and more prevalent. Defender is one of the weapons in my arsenal to protect our company from unwanted intrusion.
  • Protects every laptop, desktop, and server in our company.
  • Easy deployment.
  • Does NOT blow up my inbox with maybe, kinda, sorta of potential, low-level alerts.
  • My main issue with all Microsoft products. Too complex.
  • Keep it stupid simple. . .
  • Training on day-to-day usage.
  • Positive: Adding protection to our organization from MS Admin was very easy.
  • Positive: Cost-effective. Not extravagant pricing.
  • Positive: Alerts when only necessary.
Different solutions on different platforms. Servers had one thing. Some laptops had others, and office-based users had another. Multiple invoices for multiple solutions were not something I wanted to continue managing when I took over the position from my predecessor. Disabling and removing previous protection solutions was a pain.
One simple solution. That's efficiency.
I have limited use so far, so I do not have that much experience with it yet. I am planning to use it more in the future so I can free up more time for other tasks.
We also use Microsoft Sentinel, and we use a third party to assist us with that integration. It is part of our agreement with them, so it was extremely easy. They handled it for me.
Defender makes it easy because it is native Microsoft, and that is 99% of the devices on our various networks. Although it is on a separate invoice, it is all Managed from my Microsoft Admin account. As long as the solution is effective, efficient, and not cost-prohibitive, it seems to be the best solution for our organization.

Yes

Yes

Would you buy Microsoft Defender XDR again?

Yes

I like Defender because it is a "set it and forget it" level-based protection. Choose the settings appropriate for your organization and let it do its thing. I do NOT have time to futz around with it on a daily basis. You can always make adjustments to tailor it for "just right." Keep in mind that it is not okay to reduce alert levels to alleviate incoming email notifications and thereby open your infrastructure to risk. For small to medium businesses like ours, it seems to be a great solution. If I were the CIO for a larger Fortune 500 company, I would want more protection in place, and I would have a team rather than a Lone Ranger.
