Overall Satisfaction with Miro

A virtual collaboration tool to help fill the void off offline idea sharing in covid times, both for prospect solutions as well as webinar engagement amongst participants. It was initially introduced in the latter setting though has become more adopted across my different teams for any purpose that involves peer-to-peer real-time collaboration.
  • real-time collaboration
  • energizing groups who can see others around them participating and making that participation infectious
  • easy (enough) learning curve (once you actually give it a go)
  • it does look a bit busy at first, though no more so than a non-virtual whiteboard
  • general interface elegance and initial impression is overwhelming
  • when guests encounter it for the first time, it does require some awkward stumbling to get used to it, which can take time away from the content itself
  • Fantastic results as far as engagement goes from virtual events my company has hosted
  • Provided a sure bet option for virtual collaboration without having to home-brew something each time
  • Less resistance than expected from both hosts and guests
I was not involved in the implementation of Miro and am instead just a user, so I do not have any personal experience with how the implementation went, however, I have not heard any negative feedback or poor impressions from the team that was responsible for implementation and roll out.

As described, it's a great way to not just collaborate, but do so in a fun and live, energetic fashion with an interface that allows all participants to get caught up in the frenzy, not unlike how we used to do it offline. I can only imagine that a tool like this has become all the more popular and adopted given the state of the world at the moment.

Well while Google is free, it isn't as fun or interactive despite its use of anonymous mythical and real animals as participants. I didn't have to pay for it, but I will certainly say that it was able to prove itself as more engaging in real-time than looking at a spreadsheet with multiple collaborators. And unlike sheets, it allows participants to not overwrite each other's worth.
Very well suited when any sort of virtual collaboration in real-time in group settings, usually a more short-term scenario versus a collaborative tool for project management (though I've not used it for the latter scenario thus far). Basically, it helps to replicate the situation of scrum-boarding as I have used it, with an exciting visual interface. I personally feel like using archaic techniques like google docs are fine for long term project management, though I am almost certain I can be proven wrong given that it is a huge market segment
