Overall Satisfaction with Miro
I use it for design collaboration.
Scope of use can vary from internal teams, to external consultant teams and design presentations to client.
Design proceeds through all phases - from pre-design visioning with client, to concept design and ideation, to architectural design development, then through to design documentation and consultant coordination on technical drawings.
I also use to instruct rendering coordination and video editing, by storyboarding, frame editing, and detailed frame-by-frame markups.
Key benefits of Miro are quick drag-and-drop of PDFs and images, with live weblinking and pen-drawing markup. Also, the borderless scalability of the collaboration field. Negatives are the limited pen and shape drawing tools, the inability to switch linking-lines, and the pixelation breakdown in exporting frames to slide content.

- multi-user live edit platform
- drag-and-drop PDF and image content, with quick placement and resizing, and live web-linking
- limitless storyboarding - but limited ability to load customizable user tools and user symbols
- customizable user tools / create your own pre-set symbols and graphics
- unable to switch off or hide toolbars, so you get a cleaner "full screen" presentation mode
- on zoom calls, the Miro board often freezes and slows down when presenting, with a "time-lag" in pen drawing and editing.
- Exporting Miro frames to usable PDF content is limited. Content often pixelates and breaks down.
- The linking lines are very annoying, and should have a toggle to switch off.
- Business-level Miro is very powerful and supports multi-user and multi-project teams
- Archiving Miro boards helps retain documentation of design thinking and collaborative comments
Really well. New projects can also reference other project boards as precedents to help in getting more team members used to the effectiveness of using Miro.

Using Miro
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Like to use Relatively simple Easy to use Technical support not required Well integrated Consistent Quick to learn Convenient Feel confident using Familiar | None |
- manipulation of PDFs, images, notes, frames
- inviting people to Miro boards, establishing passwords and managing team access
- markup tools in pen and notes
- symbols and reactions are juvenile and gimmicky. they get old and outdated really fast
- customizing Miro to user preferences for different industries is limited.
- I tend not to use the integrated apps very much, don't often see the benefit.
