Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it to manage content and products on our content and ecommerce sites.

Pros and Cons

Easy to use for non technical users.
Scheduling content.
Ease of use in regards to marketing blocks and mobile optimized templates.

Great at content management. Average at ecommerce.
Ecommerce site and sometimes the content management system is slow. This is not completely Epi's fault. Or unique to Epi. All ecommerce platforms have this issue.

Unification of multiple sites on one content management platform.

Usability

I think Epi is easy for non technical business users to pick up and use. Like all software interfaces there is a learning curve and idiosyncrasies, but it is doable.

Like all content management it is a never ending process up upgrades/integrations/customizations between Epi and internal/external software platforms. This is something that has to be managed by a dedicated team and considered a cost of doing business. This is the same with every platform. There is no magic button that makes this easy. It depends on the technical literacy of the business users, the web dev and and database abilities of internal IT, the external software vendor, your backend architecture/infrastructure, a robust API, and the project management skills of all groups. No sugar coating. This is hard hard stuff.

Alternatives Considered

Adobe Commerce (Magento Commerce)

I consider Optimizely fine for large content sites. Small to medium Ecommerce sites. Magento is more of an enterprise level product. But it has all the same issues and considerations that you deal with using Optimizely. Just for larger sites. These things are more ecommerce product/platform management specific issues as opposed to platform specific.
