Overall Satisfaction with Optimizely Content Management System
We use Optimizely as the CMS for all of our public-facing websites and microsites. The primary issue that we have is a seeming inability to have multiple projects being developed in integration and then being unable to move the specified projects up into pre-production. We've had to back out of several projects in order to move the project forward.
- Personalization
- Free form organization.
- Not publishing content if you are replacing content on a page. For example, we have banner ads on our home page and would like to view them in preview, but we need to publish the content, and when we do that, it pushes the image onto the homepage because the component is already there.
- Archiving components or images.
- The optionality of what and how we want to develop content has been a positive, Optimizely's flexibility.
- Difficulty in moving development projects up into pre-production is a negative if you're working on multiple development projects.
- Deployment of content in mass is much easier.
- Immediate publishing of PDFs is an issue. We frequently see that PDFs take time to become live, which is a terrible experience.
We went from purchasing the product and replacing our website in four months. This was primarily due to business approvals vs. the CMS. We were actively engaged in content production immediately after launching, with limited training with our web content managers.
- ASAPP Customer Experience Performance (CXP)
Opeimizely's sales team did an excellent job of supporting our decision. The CMS is actually bigger than what we are currently using it for, but with the opportunity to grow into using the platform, this was the right decision. So the support staff is the key differentiator for us.
